Colour for render and trims

Looking to revamp our family home. Never loved the render colour as I feel it doesn’t do much. Keen to keep the bricks but looking to change the render and trim colour.

My thoughts were Taubmans All Black and maybe a slightly lighter trim?

Sounds a bit severe and dramatic. Have you considered going the other way with a pure white render and trims? With a black render the upstairs balustrade feature will be lost as it will be black render behind a black balustrade. A white render will make the balustrade a central feature, which is more in keeping with the Georgian inspired architecture of your home.

Black has been an on-trend colour for about ten years now, and Georgian style homes traditionally had a white contrast - I don't think I have ever seen a black trim in a Georgian style home.

I think a dark black would look wrong with the roof colour - if you are keen to go dark, rather do a dark grey/charcoal - close to your roof colour.

After great thought with the advice given & other researched sites, we have decided to not render our bricks. :) We have begun re painting our pergola from dulux lexicon to taubmans coffee cake - very similar to our window trims. It's a neutral stone/beige colour. We hope to paint our garage doors & gutters monument & probably the facia trims in coffee cake. Fingers crossed for it to look ok. Thanks again.

Hi, interestingly I have been grappling with this issue recently! For a contemporary design I have firmly decided that dark bronze or black frames suit much better as they are visually recessive and give the optical illusion of larger glazing and help create an indoor-outdoor connection. White frames tend to focus your eyes on the frames/window rather than the space and form, however you can get these to work if you use very slender frames (which are more expensive) or if you are purposefully using traditional design cues. I know this doesn't help as you already have the DA, so if you can go with the silver pearl that is a good option, and perhaps use the words "dark beige" to darken the render!

I really like colorbonds wallaby... they have some contrasting colours listed below... this might give a dark enough look without being too dark. however would you consider changing roof and trims first and then see how you feel about the brickwork? It might be all you need to do for an updated look. I'd maybe do roof and gutters same colour and then down pipes in a colour similar to bricks so not to stand out..., garage doors maybe the woodland grey?

In the photo , it looks like a bit of asphalt ( driveway presumably ? ) in the bottom right corner -- a grey , not as dark as monument . That would be the approx shade I would aim for on the tiles . The mission brown isn't too bad ( well , it is , but it doesn't stand out too badly haha ) but it will sort of blend in with the new tile colour . The present green tinge and brown windows not so much . Just me , I'd do something with that door ( and any other main door ) -- maybe a really nice natural wooden door , maybe paint the existing one a bright summery red , yellow or apricot , maybe do the column in a slate . Spend $2k or less and it will turn it from average to thought out IMO . Of course , it looks like that door is open , and it may already have a touch of class , but to me , its a relatively cheap way of adding some style .

My suggestions 1. Window and garage door trims in navy .
1. Horizontal trims below the balcony and above the pediment in navy
2. Guttering and render in white .
  4.Tops of fence posts in navy

White from me too. See how nice the garage door looks?

Remember the colouring rule - 60% 40% and 20%

3 colours look balanced in those proportions.

So... brick colour =60%

render in white =40%

trims in black =20%

Lots of green in the garden, especially with white flowers - beautiful and very stately.
