timber look or black and white vanity?
I have short listed few vanities for my en-suite. Do you prefer the timber look one or one of the black and white vanities I attached? BTW, in my en-suite between the wall and the door where i want to install the vanity i have 125 cm. I can install a small double vanity or install a 90cm single vanity. Which one you would prefer? Thanks for sharing your ideas?

3 years agoIt depends on your tiles and tastes. I prefer the timber look as it adds a touch of warmth, however, some faux timber vanities look cheap when you look at the details, such as the edge of the doors.
If the tiles behind the vanity are white you have a good chance of a mismatched white between the tiles and the white vanity. One item will be a purer white, and the other will look dirty or cream colour when they are hard up against each other.
The number of vanity bowls depends on your bathroom rush-hour. If there is no clash of peak bathroom times then most people prefer more usable bench peace than another vanity bowl to keep clean.
Your bathroom vanity is going to be there for a long time, so choose quality and practicality over superficial finishes. Check how well it is built, how well the doors open and close, and the guarantee. Poorly built vanities often suffer water damage.

Comments (3)If you plan to usually leave the door open to the powder room, I would have the woodwork match. If you don't, then do what makes you happy on the cabinets. Comments (14)I would have your bench top supplier cut a thin batten of timber in the same 40mm thickness, and fix this as a front to a white melamine shelf. For a couple of reasons. Melamine is easiest to keep clean, whereas a varnish or oiled timber will require constant maintenance and resealing if it is used often, it will discolour and even with the sealant it does not like moisture, being natural, all timbers expand and contract in temp changes. Melamine is stable, and won't be seen from the viewpoint, and the timber front will make it look more substantial. Secondly, this thickness will be necessary to avoid shelf deflection, where lengths over 900mm will commonly sag under weight. Reinforcing your shelf with timber battens will avoid this, and the timber edge strip again hides it. Comments (7)Hi Beachcombing! I agree with the above comments, I think a lighter tone would suit the property. In the above images (weather dependent, I know) the internal space of the pool room appears quite dark, with some overshadowing of the neighbouring foliage. A light finish to the timber would brighten the space during the cooler months. Good luck!...See More

I was thinking to use a wood effect tile for a feature wall and a grey color for the floor and the rest of the walls but I am not quite sure if I can find the same shade of timber effect tiles. The closest color I have found so far is this one which has a lighter color than the vanity.
