Need help decorating my living room
Comments (12)If you want an all contemporary look, I think you will need to paint or cover the brick and remove the FP insert. But, if you need the insert and would like to keep the brick, a more transitional style would work. Meaning your furniture/accessories have a somewhat traditional look with a contemporary flair. Like a traditional shape lamp, with a contemporary look :) Do you like the FP as it is?...See MoreNeed help decorating the strangest-shaped living room ever
Comments (17)I think the problem is actually not so much the shape of the room but the fact that at the "pitch of the roof" part you have a large full length window and fireplace. Essentially, because of all this there is no wall to put your back against or place furniture against. My rectangular room has similar issues with a corner window facing the fireplace. We just put the kids toys there on the floor and low kid size stuff like a toy box. You can't put any large pieces there. So, I say, start by completely ignore the top triangle of the room. Its essentially dead or unusable space, but will add to the feelings of space and light in the room. Arrange your large furniture pieces in the bottom square portion, around a large square rug perhaps that would define the space. It might feel better that way. Then arrange your other bits around that. I think if you try to work the square it will be way easier to organise the room. Emphasising a square layout will feel more comfortable. Plants in that light bright corner was a good suggestion, they soften the angles. Hope that helps!...See MoreHelp with Living area decor
Comments (10)Hi Raman! Megan from Bluethumb online art gallery here. I agree that a large artwork would really add to the space and fill up the empty wall above the couch. Having artworks really adds personality to a room, and our philosophy here at Bluethumb is no nude walls! I saw that a canvas print has been suggested, but why buy a print when you can have a unique, original artwork by a local artist on your wall? Also, if you're thinking of floating shelves, a great way to make them a feature is some small framed prints! I think some white floating shelves on that 105cm wall by the archway would look great. I have a few suggestions for you: For the large piece above the couch, I'd go with a green toned piece that ties into the accent colour of the cushions. A nice landscape or nature themed piece would work well. https://bluethumb.com.au/claire-souter/Artwork/the-leaves-in-my-tropical-garden I've mocked this first option up for you - https://bluethumb.com.au/kitmcneill/Artwork/shifting-mist-over-wentworth-falls-blue-mountains-landscape https://bluethumb.com.au/fenton-bjw/Artwork/dionysus-s-eminence https://bluethumb.com.au/elaine-green/Artwork/my-view-or-the-way-i-see-it-elaine-green https://bluethumb.com.au/photography/pennyp/artwork/melbourne-summer For some smaller pieces for the floating shelves, you could try some prints or small original pieces by these popular artists: https://bluethumb.com.au/angus-martin/Artwork/crowded-v3 https://bluethumb.com.au/jasmine-radakovic/Artwork/female-form-151176 https://bluethumb.com.au/daniellagermain/Artwork/snowy-mountain-cottages https://bluethumb.com.au/sally-browne/Artwork/magpie-lennox-street-flame-tree https://bluethumb.com.au/darlene-lavertyty/Artwork/australian-wattle-watercolour-painting-limited-edition-print-large-framed-darlene-lavett https://bluethumb.com.au/photography/megangeorgephoto/artwork/floral-accent Let me know if you'd like any others mocked up, or if I can help with any more suggestions. Comments (24)I would declutter to much is going on in this room. I love the blue chair maybe you can add some nice candles on the coffee table and books and the throw should not be in the middle of the couch probably different colour through maybe the same colour as the blue chairs. Also get rid of the side table and add maybe a plant and also get rid of the mirror in the corner....See MoreC P
