Living room layout suggestion.

Hi All,

i hope my question would make some sense to you all!

I have recently moved to my new house, and I am struggling to adjust dinning table TV and couch (Buffet table maybe) in my living area the most effective way.

i, am therefore, written to seek some of your humble opinions to fit them all such that it looks nice and functiona.

attching a layout of the property.

Hi there, firstly congratulations on moving into your new home, what a lovely room are the table and chairs and the wonderful toy car yours. It would be great to have some dimensions but quickly it look d like a sofa facing the R/H wall will work, and remember to pull the dining table away from the wall.

Hi, thanks for the reply and the wishes! None of the items are mine, I just shared the pic of the old owner :)

the dimensions are:

3.4 m right wall.

5 m wall to wall distance.

2.3 m from Left wall to the opening of door toward pergola.

I initally kept TV on the Right side wall, but when I keep couch the distance will be maximum 2.7 m and then at the back will be dinning and a way to cross for pergola.

now, if I keep this was toward window. the room is not coming out as apealing and looking bit clossed. I need to change the couches but waiting for the best layout before I finalise one.

I hope wonderful people like you might help to solve my concern!

It really depends on how you see yourselves using this room and how many people will be using it. Is there only one sofa or could you use 2 smaller ones to define the space more? We have a small living area with 2 small sofas opposite each other and a coffee table in between. The TV is at one end. This means when you sit on one sofa, you can look out our full height windows to the trees beyond. When hubby and I are watching TV at night we each take a sofa and it's quite comfy watching the TV at the end. There are a couple of options too. If the sofa/s run across the room rather than along it, it can reorientate the space and make the room feel more defined rather than long and thin. The walkway would then be separated from the defined living space. Then you could locate the TV on the back wall too if you wanted to if glare isn't an issue. Best of luck with it!

How about close off door from entry, TV on far wall, couch currently on far wall moved to be L shape with the other couch, and then you wouldn't be blocking the windows. TV def needs to move away from the windows.

To be blunt -- the room isn't really big enough ! So you have to sort out priorities , and space . You have a dining table , and a computer desk . Can you get rid of the computer desk , by having your computer tower mounted behind the couch or similar , and a wireless keyboard and mouse that you can use on the dining table ? Mount the monitor on a wall , or if you don't need in depth graphics , I understand you can use your TV ( I've heard something about the 'refresh rate' is less on a TV ? ) . Maybe even have a monitor but also the option of using your TV ? Could you use a 'breakfast bar' , probably where the computer desk is now , I know its not sociable all staring at a wall , but it would/could serve as a brakfast bar and computer workstation . Could you get rid of the dining table and chairs , and have a large coffee table , or 2 smaller ones , and eat 'casually' ( my polite way of saying eat sitting on the couch ) ? Even mounting the TV on the wall will let you get rid of the cabinet , but I gather you have gaming consoles in there ? And the present arrangement with the pot plants uses some space -- maybe some shelves with them on will still retain the plants but free up floor space ? Just some thoughts off the top of my head .

Very hard to advise with out dimensions of all your furniture, Measure them up and make a scale cut out of each to put on a plan. Easier than moving furniture around,

Hey Kate, I need to buy all new stuff. Gicing myself time with the old furniture to understand what layout furnite I exactly want. Like, the couch I am thninking a L Shape couch 3 m max with a chase. I am more concerend about the walkability concerns and distance of TV from wall. please proposed layout with appx dimension of stuff and I will buy those! Thanks
