Do you find these tiles time-consuming or hard to lay?

I'm referring to the light blue ones, we took extra time and care doing this. I'm wondering if any DIYers or customers out there would try this on their own? This is one our builder completed.

Just wanting to know as we recently got a call from a customer who had tried this and it didn't work out for them. Also what are your current thoughts on the design style of the tiles?

It looks fabulous and you'd be mad not to get a very experienced tiler to do it.

Agree with CP. A professional tiler is a must. It does look sensational.

I've been in the flooring game selling carpets timber vinyl and ceramic tiles for 35 years, you are not the only one with this problem. The best solution is to remove the tiles but this is a big job but gives you 100% job but you probably know this. Bamboo flooring is good but please do your research on this because they are made two different ways Cold press and Hot press and the prices very from $30 - $60 also you will need to ask for the VOC certificate for things like formaldehyde. A lot of the cheaper suppliers do not have there's tested. The other thing that the industry is having but they want tell you is the bamboo is expanding and contracting a lot more in the Australian climate. Sorry to put a damper on bamboo. There is a newer floating floor on the market it has been around for about 7 years it is vinyl 4.5mm to 6mm thick its is good for going over tiles as it does not create to-much of a step and other issues in doors and kitchen

In a previous post on this discussion forum I described my laundry bin...a 30L cardboard barrel which I lined with an old shower curtain and decorated still reigns supreme on the lid of my top loder, Nobody knows what it is and its a never ending source of admiration from an artistic angle. Lacking floor space the only option was to sit it up there or out on the veranda.It works as a cat toy too. It has, however, acquired some vents in the lid since some of my art shirts are often a bit oily and I learnt that some oils tend to self combist in enclosed spaces and can be the cause of house fires. Re comment by @wuff...yes! My laundry tub was always full of dust and stuff I'd forgotten about and is now covered up by a timber insert which is a strong shelf/table for the dryer. So, the tub is being used, just not in the way originally intended! For any hand washing, I use a large plastic bucket which also doubles as a clothes basket I use to carry washing to the line. I think it's great that all these opinions can be expressed on Houzz as I find the comments as entertaining and useful as the Houzz articles.

Anna - your first photo of the terrazzo tile running up the bathroom wall is really striking, but I think it is the soaring ceiling with the natural light flooding in that makes it so appealing rather than the terrazzo tiles. All of the bathrooms are a similar size, so one way to avoid the stress of all those selections (in a short time) is to find the right tiles and follow it through consistently for all three bathrooms. I agree with you that the dramatic all charcoal tile may be a bit overpowering in a small space, unless you want to go for that nightclub/bachelor pad feel for your kids bathroom. Your kids may think it is cool now, but what about in five years time? You also need to think about how long you are going to live in the house, and how long until you renovate your bathrooms. I think that the vertical subway tile will date quickly, and in 2028 it will look very 2018. The terrazzo tile is classic, timeless, hardwearing and beautiful so I would probably be considering the terrazzo as a floor tile in all three bathrooms, matched with a large format white or soft grey wall tile that complements your terrazzo colours. This solution will give you practicality, longevity and make the spaces feel bigger. Go for understated and elegant when it comes to tile selections in bathrooms if you need them to look good for a long time. But if you are in a financial position to renovate your bathrooms in ten years time go with what is fashionable and on-trend now. Best of luck (and don't stress) Dr Retro of Dr Retro House Calls

I'd get an experienced tiler to do it in that pattern. However, I'm not sure how well the pattern will date.

It is a beautiful job.

My initial thoughts r it is on trend and looks lovely, but i think it will date quicker and standard horizontal looks better.
Not for me, and even stranger in kitchens.
Kitchen tiles could be changed but bathroom tiles is more permanent.
Just my simplistic view.

Agree with everyone about employing an experienced tiler. But not sure I agree with the concern about dating. Herringbone pattern has been used for millennia and imo (and it’s just an opinion) it doesn’t have any of the hallmarks of a “craze/fad”. Even though it has an edge, it’s not gaudy, overly colourful or excessively complex. I really like it, especially with the muted blue tile

Your bathroom looks like a good size, but somehow the wall tiles colour doesnt match the floor. My personal approach is about practicality and longevity. Too much grout means too much work to keep the grout clean and looks distracting too. Because they put similar pictures in catalogues and then people wanna have it at home too. The same is everybody now goes for black and white fit outs and then all the bathrooms look the same.

I love the colour of the tile, my fav colour blue, but cleaning yikes!
Don’t like black tiles as I would worry about calcification water marks from Adelaide water.
Perhaps I should just bathe outside, then I don’t have to clean it..
