Advice needed on bathroom window frame replacement job

Hi all

I had a pair of tradesmen who specialise in window installations come over at the start of the year to replace a water damaged window frame located next to the bathtub. They pulled out the frame, tiled over the exposed area and added returns on the edges. It was a $800 cash job (They asked me to choose between that or paying extra for an invoice. In hindsight, not the best idea to go with the cash option but I am inexperienced with these sort of things and have learnt from my mistake). The completed job was erring on the sloppy side. There were gaps between the returns, the tiles were unevenly cut, the grout work messy. I still paid them because it was a long day of work (though I now think I probably should've withheld payment until I was 100% happy).

I only got them to come back this week (months after the initial job due to the coronavirus lockdown) and they fixed up the returns and the grout. I did a check of the area after they were done and queried them replacing the L shaped tile but was told it was "not possible". Otherwise, I was satisfied thinking that if I tidied up the grout myself, it would be fine. However, this morning, I noticed that all three tiles under the window were unevenly cut so that they are chipped (previously unnoticed because they were hidden under the grout). I gave them a call after this discovery and they were understandably disgruntled and said that they've already been out twice and "did a cash job for me" but to send them photos of the issue.

So, my question is, what would you advice I do now? Should I insist they come back again to fix up the tiling work? I understand that I am also at fault for not insisting on them replacing the tiles the second time they were out. Alternatively, do I get a professional tiler to redo the job?

Many thanks for your advice.
