Before & After: A 1980s suburban home

Our client was in the process of weighing up the pros and cons of a new build versus a renovation of their existing house. They were longing for all the new features of a fresh newly built home but loved the Suburb that they are living in, and its location: which is nestled in a quiet cul-de-sac. The house was not deteriorated and did not warrant a full knockdown/rebuild.

The clients came to us wanting to transform the house to feel like a new home inside, without altering the footprint of the house. Transforming the entry was important as we wanted to provide a new house feel as soon as anyone walked into the home, we did this by adding new timber treads and a new glass balustrade to the staircase. They also wanted a long island bench in the kitchen and a little butler type pantry. By moving a few walls, changing existing doorways the new dream kitchen was achieved.

The small butlers' pantry was created by using the space under the stairs and extending the existing storage space. The entry to the pantry is doors that form part of the joinery behind the island. We also added a few niches that helped to create a more open feel, along with adding new flooring. To brighten up the space we created a new lighting design. The crispness of the newly painted white walls also helped to create the newly built feel.

We also transformed the bathrooms which received all-new fittings, finishes, and lighting.
