bathroom spruce up

I was after some advice re sprucing up this second bathroom. It is only used when we have guests or when our grandson stays over but it is a bit dated.
I don’t want to do major renovation and was thinking the vanity top, new basin and tap ware, towel rail and perhaps glass bricks to the window. Whatever gives most bang for buck.
The bath is horrible but I have a feeling it is sitting on sand so not keen to take it out.
I would love any ideas.

Install a obscure glass film on the window. Glass bricks will date the bathroom even more, and will close up access to fresh air.
Take down glass shelving, and replace with a wood that matches your vanity.
Remove ceramic jug. Replace with a large indoor plant in a pot. Remove candle? from vanity and replace with your ceramic jug with fresh flower arrangement, when guests are there.
Taps and towel rail are chrome which is timeless. If they still work then leave as is.
Your bathroom is clean and tidy. Just accessorise with good white towels when you have guests.

Thank you. It’s nice to know it is perhaps not too bad. I have made those small cosmetic changes and will order some white towels. My only other issue is the window frame is black and quite jarring. Maybe just a roller blind in white to cover the window? It overlooks the outdoor entertaining area so frosting is a good idea.

Remove wallpaper. Remove tile. Remove the front of the blue tub. May be able to add new tile there too. New tile will take a good chunk of your budget. May not be able to change out tub. Refinish the sink cabinet with a color of preference and weather it for the shabby chic look. Paint the remainder walls.

Hi Neryl! I'm pleased to say there is an awful lot you can do for that budget!! My recommendations are: * Paint the vanity white (or even just the etched lines) & replace the handles with little chrome ones OR * keep an eye on gumtree for a small vanity unit (your top is fine you just need the unit) - often you'll get one for free if you check every day! * replace the lace curtain with a plain white roller blind (or leave the window bare) * replace the medicine cabinet with a bigger one (or if you don't need the storage space do away with it & just put up nice mirror that will fit the space better) * paint the top half of the room a lighter whiter colour Personally the medicine cabinet & curtain are the only things that sticks out at me as looking daggy and as they are at eye level its the most noticable thing in the room. Good luck I'm sure you'll have it looking more inviting in no time!

depending on the size of the existing vanity it should be possible to have a similar new vanity or a custom unit made to replace the original but a chat with a plumber should be arranged to recommend suitable options and plan a schedule to remove the old and install the new, including any necessary waterproofing or tile repairs..btw careful removal could allow the original sink, taps and even the counter to be saved and recycled into a new vanity that matches the bathroom perfectly with the added option of being able to add different doors or drawers to the cabinet

Yes thank you for your thoughts. the room is 2.8 (with window) vs 3.4m. I do find it a bit annoying too as I don't like that you open the door and see straight away into the shower (though I'm certain the door would have a lock). I'm sure they lined the bath up to be with the window as visually that looks better, but then I find the space at the end annoying. I like the alternative drawings (I like three of them lots!) and I had been considering an drop in bath built wall to wall rather than a freestanding but also finding it frustrating to find a really nice supportive bath and there are less drop in baths than freestanding around at the moment which is a bit annoying. Thanks Anna for the picture, that helps as that looks good (though we would have more space at either end, 50cm) and I prefer the look of yours with some space but not as cavenous... I think I might have to have a talk with my husband as we really need to work out what to do!!

Joy I think you are on right track except the glass bricks. A white daylight blind and frosting. Sadly what also dates it is the feature tiles. But that’s a big job.
