Lawn edging project

Our lawn has not been consistent. In winter the right edge dies because it never dries out and in summer the heat kills the left side. When we moved here the centre was a rockery. We have had the turf stripped out and having a new more appropriate lawn laid. We wanted to put some box hedges around the ficus trees and need a plan for the lawn edging. I had a plan designed around the good bits of the lawn. Husband and son in law laid the bricks across the lawn but I felt this cut the area in half and was not impressed. They appreciate the design because it gives a good mowing strip. It was also suggested that my plan came too close to the jacaranda roots and the box wood not grow well there.

i want to put the fountain back between the ficus. The rockery behind will be finished with retaining bricks and the fence around the spa will be replaced.
