Comments (73)This floor plan has a single garage, with bedrooms grouped together at the front of the house, the Music Room has been moved to the rear away from the bedrooms as it would make too much noise for those sleeping. It can now be opened up to the family kitchen dining, courtyard and Alfresco and can be used as a play room(/ guest room) giving children great indoor out door play area in view of parents. There's a study with a similar view. A powder room closer to the rear of the house for easy access, The main bathroom is done Japanese style. The master suite has the WIR between the bed and the ensuite, no noise etc when in use to disturb anyone. Comments (10)To my eye the only thing your house lacks is floral aspect in the garden. You have some lovely foliage but florals make a bush block come alive. Some beautiful grevillieas will bring birds, moonlight is my favourite as the white florals really lift a landscape. Leucospermums are dramatic and come in sunset colours that work so well on bush sites. Pandorea are a native vine that's extremely fast growing popular with nectar feeders and comes in a huge range of colours. The flowers appear in massive sprays in early spring. Would look great on your porch, Unlike wisteria it won't harm the structure it grows on and is easy to chop back. I really love the sunset one. But they range in everything from pure white to deep red and many bicoloured like this one. And for a light, airy bush with some different try the honey lace myrtles, the bees will love them. Comments (8)You can spend quite a bit of money ( $2K upwards , even $10k if you aren't careful ) and not really achieve much space wise , as you pointed out its tall , not a positive in this situation . Its also warm natural timber , its a bit quirky , yes its a bit dated and a bit boring . You haven't said if you intend to keep the balustrade on the other side , but obviously the two match and reference each other , so I'd keep both . But to break the boredom of the slope , I'd do a couple of small 'steps' ( flat timber on top , then down the front , maybe with 'triangular' closed in sides or left open ), probably done in a charcoal because it would be difficult to match the wood tone and varnish and get the patina right , and have small creepers or even maiden hair fern or cactus in small pots . You'd need a ladder handy for watering , but I like things living in the kitchen ( maybe not so much in the fridge haha ) and the warmth of timber -- plus its $100 or so !...See More- 5 years ago
