I have a bespoke bathroom vanity with a 500mm long basin. How far should the tap come into the basin and what is the best height. I am having an astra walker icon + range tap.
I am no expert , but there is a sweet spot where the water doesn't run over the back , but also doesn't get in your way . Even that is an oversimplification , because the higher above the basin you go , the further out you have to go , but go too close and its not natural holding your hands low . Just looking at my basins , I'd say somewhere around 150mm above and 150mm in seems about right ?
Ideally the tap spout should be over the drain. Height is for comfort and depends on basin size. Beware if mounting tap on bench behind a sink you may need extra long spout. They are hard to come by but are out there. Most talk about extra height for the fashion of benchtop sinks
Thanks Kate, bathroom taps are alot smaller than kitchen ones. I thought I might have to get one made. The company I purchased my taps from does bespoke sizes. The tap wil be side mounted. I suppose if the centre is 250 if the tap range was around 220? It should be ok or do you think it should be dead centre?
Talk to the basin and tap suppliers for their recommendations. It will also depend on how the basin is mounted. On bench, Inset, or under bench If it’s a rectangular basin why is it side mounted? Can you post a layput
