Flooring Design Dilemma

Floor tiles - whole area the same?

We are retailing our downstairs area due to a flood, and have changed our floorplan slightly. We are planning on mid-grey concrete aggregate look floor tiles.

Wondering if I should do the whole level the same tile or mix it up a bit?

Any suggestions appreciated

Our upstairs area is a Warm Spotted Gum hybrid, and our stairs are in that too.

I would use the same tile though out.

I was thinking that too but going for 600x600 so thought they might be complicated in the laundry. Was thinking wood look tiles in there?

unless you have a very big bathroom the actual laying of the tiles could be the smallest cost of the whole renovation (what is the size of the space?)...there's also the removal of the old finish (and any old asbestos) and preparation of the new surfaces and waterproofing and any new fixtures and tile glue and trims and grout...ask the tiler what is included for the price

These decking ideas are great - it's always a good idea to consider the practical as well as the aesthetic! Another practical thing to think about is using the right timber connectors around your pool, because unprotected brackets and post supports can rust away very quickly and make decks unstable and dangerous to use. Will the bath floor slope into the green tile area still, I see a current drain in the tiles. If this is the case I would continue tiles to keep waterproof integrity. Otherwise I would expect vinyl from hall could continue into the toilet and bathroom as long as they are laid as a direct continuation so don’t look piecemeal and the vinyl is suitable for use in toilet areas.

No to the wood look tiles. They are naff. What about a smaller version of your larger tile?

Yeah could do 300x300 or 300x600. Good point!

Just remember when changing sizes your grout lines won’t line up. So if that is an issue with you look at an edge strip where you change tile size or change to diagonal laying or keep the same tile size.

Good point, thanks Kate. Not keen on grout lines not matching to be honest. So many things to consider!
