Redesigning our house including kitchen, two bathrooms & laundry. Ideas?
Comments (53)Thanks Jayme, I get what you mean, it's just not really practical for our house & will make the renovation a lot more difficult & expensive if we start moving walls like the to gain an extra couple of feet. It's possibly a load bearing wall too. But that area which is currently our kitchen where we are thinking of putting the fire place isn't the main living area, it's basically the centre of our living area which is a long room from one end of the house to the other, so we were thinking having the fire there will warm the house better being that it will have the kitchen & dining table one side of it & the lounge the other side. I think we could it a couple of cozy arm chairs & a small coffee table or we could just put a love seat up against the section of wall opposite the fire?...See MoreKitchen re-design
Comments (3)From the photos you have provided, it looks like your kitchen space is quite cosy. To accommodate a island bench you mentioned before we would suggest a corner kitchen, keeping your pantry within the corner however making it built in with your cabinetry in the photo posted below. (Photo a idea for cabinet layout, different materials and style in accordance with your design). To make you design flow, next to your corner pantry we would suggest your appliances are built in to the cabinetry with the fridge against the far right wall. This would then provide a whole bench top with overhead cabinetry which could feature a splash back to your liking that would blend with your terracotta tiles. Within the island bench we would suggest you have your sink and a integrated dishwasher to maximise space within the kitchen when cooking. This may not fit in with your budget, however if you would like a free quote to provide a estimate of cost please feel free to call us on 03 423 9067, if you would like to see some of out work feel free to visit out profile on Houzz. We hope this helps :) Example of layout with in built corner pantry. Example of overhead cabinetry with tiled detail to match terracotta features you mentioned. Island bench example, make one side functional with integrated dishwasher and bins with sink, and the other a dining option to merge with the kitchen, however this would depend on measurements within your kitchen space....See MoreBefore & after: A kitchen Redesign

Comments (40)I'am not sure why your builder suggests that a 900 oven needs to be built in under bench, 900/ 600 ovens can be mounted in a wall cabinet. After having a 900 oven I personally prefer 2 x 600 I have shown you as best I can a single 900 oven wall mounted plus a freestanding unit. The 900 wall oven can become 2 x 600 stacked ovens In my experience MW's a better sitting in a special Wall mounted cabinet above the bench, it puts it at a safe height for handling hot foods, easy lift out onto benchtop. I still prefer the Fridge set back into the wall beside the WIP, family having BBQ's and just easy to access with ease of loading and unloading it by using the Island. The WIP I have shown without return corners as I dislike them as they create base cabinets that are difficult to access, it also allows for a full height window for extra light and ventilation with the straight run You can have a double sink but I have shown 1 1/2 bowls, which I find easy to work with especially if you have the newer deeper square sinks, you could have a dishwasher but I prefer that next to the sink below the servery. Your WIP is perfect for all small appliances, coffee machines, Airfryers etc. A tall food pantry would be a good option between any wall oven and MW unit, the pantry would be best fitted with drawers. I have made the opening into the WIP squared and full height, if you use standard height and trim any ovens etc would need a filler between it and the wall to avoid hitting any doorway trim ....See MoreZac van Asch
