White paint help!!
Comments (18)Hi Lisa, after years of searching for a white colour that is not too blue, not too pink, not too yellow and not too green, I found one!! It's Dulux Snowy Mountains. Two years ago we have recently painted two units we built and recently our son's room got painted with that colour and I still love it! It's of course personal choice, but I'm so happy with that particular white....See Moreneed help picking a white paint colour for our beach unit
Comments (1)Hi dicorones - I see no-one has answered your question! There are lots of posts regarding the best / favourite whites to use. Remember it is always up to your personal taste, however check this article; https://www.houzz.com.au/magazine/shady-business-how-to-choose-the-right-white-paint-stsetivw-vs~30629697 and this discussion https://www.houzz.com.au/discussions/dulux-antique-white-usa-yay-or-nay-dsvw-vd~2827919 For your unit I imagine you could go a very bright white but make sure there is some pigmentation in it, otherwise it will throw blue in the shade. (I like that at the end the article also suggests asking the actual painter! We are big believers in seeking the advice of our trades professionals and craftspeople... and often run the paint colours past the painters once we have done a test sample on site!) Comments (3)Sorry, I can’t comment on the whites you have mentioned. For what it’s worth, I’ll just mention that we’ve been very happy with Dulux Whisper White in the past. From memory it just has hint of black pigment in it. Found this to work well across a wide range of lighting situations. Great with a range of different timbers, from aged cypress (a bit yellow), cedar and iron bark (a bit red). To some it might look a bit stark but to my eye it always looked fresh, not dirty, and not creamy. An alternative is Dulux Half Duck White which we have used at quarter strength (half, half duck white ) which has the black pigment plus ochre I think, which Is similar but maybe a bit ‘softer’. Good luck....See MoreWhich white? What to paint trims/celings/doors. PLS HELP!
Comments (1)I’d suggest using pieces of plaster, painted in your chosen colours, to see what the colours look like in different rooms and at different times of the day. We were always going for Natural White which ended up having a pink tinge in certain light in our home. Our large back area is east facing (8m of glass stacking doors) with two south facing windows and two large skylights for northern light. Our colour consultant suggested Dulux Snowy Mountains Qtr strength and it is great for our home. Not stark (no blue/grey tinge) but definitely not too warm. We went all the same colour - walls, trims, ceilings - just in different finishes. Modern home with squareset ceilings. White is so hard. Good luck with your choice!...See More- 5 years ago
