How should bathroom tile sizes work?...
Comments (17)Hi fivedock No problems. I have tweaked it a little in response to the other rooms. The kitchen lights are moved out slightly off the cabinetry for better overhead lighting and added two under cabinet /bulkhead lights that are wall switched. Have also added a light for just outside the laundry for when you are standing there with washing. Back room can be on one circuit although I have shown two as don't know where you are placing furniture. We make the bathroom lights separate as shown and also do the fan separate. Our sparkie hates it but we like to be able to use the room without the fan automatically coming on. Have shown pendants in the master but that's up to you. I can delete if you like. On a side note, are the bedroom doors swinging that way deliberately? We would normally swing them opposite to that shown so that they open against a wall and you have clearance to walk around the beds. If this is to be changed then your switch locations need to be changed also. Cheers...See MoreWhich bathroom layout should I go with?
Comments (21)yes but I think it depends what market you are likely to be seeking in. if it's not family home market but more up market retirees then a glam spacious bathroom will win more plaudits from buyers than a cramped make-do space. I just strongly feel you should design your bathroom so it is a pleasure to use every day not just the one day a year you may want a bath (plus much as I like the style of bathroom Siriuskey has posted they really don't beg out for bathing in). But a vanity space where you can even have your own toothpaste if you like stripey and he likes plain and all stored neatly away so they never have to appear on display together and with a shower you can lift your arms up in is priceless if you ask me....See MoreShould bathroom floor be dark or lighter than walls
Comments (9)Hi Reham Arnaout Generally the darker tile is better on the floor for the reasons mentioned above (not show the dirt etc.) and because it has more visual weight to 'ground' the room. Think about the natural light the space receives- too much dark tile on the walls will make the space dark and gloomy. Some light wall surfaces will help brighten the space. Best wishes...See MoreWhich size tiles for Bathroom floors and walls
Comments (8)Are you tiling the shower base? If so the larger the tile then the more cut tiles will be needed to get the drainage right to direct water to the floor waste. If it is a small bathroom make sure that your tiler aligns the grout lines on the floor with the grout lines on the wall. If they are slightly offset they look pretty bad. Would you consider using the same 300x600 tile on the floor and wall? If so then lay the tiles horizontally, not vertically. However with any good tiling job the better, flatter and straighter the wall is before tiling will result in a better result. Don't expect your tiler to make a perfect job if the walls are not perfect before they start! Best of luck Dr Retro of Dr Retro House Calls and Dr Retro Virtual Visits...See MoreKate
