Bathroom paint colour help

Hi. I am planning a full bathroom reno and need some help with paint colours for walls and ceiling. The floor has pale green patterned tiles, matte white subway tiles and dark grout to the shower height and just above the vanity. Vanity is forrest green. There is only a small window and the ceiling is high so the room is quite dark. What paint colours should I look at to brighten up the room that will match the tiles and vanity.

Hi Haley.

Are you able to post some photos?

If it is a dark bathroom, consider keeping it a dark bathroom but invest in artificial light.

That is a hard one with those tiles. I would have to think if you did a white, it would kind of work with the colour of your tiles. At the end of the day, they do need to be replaces, but as you said, due to budgeting reasons, you cannot, I can pass on this photo of a nice bathroom with those tiles for you though for inspiration... : )

Thanks everyone for their comments! Update: husband has 'over-ruled' on this one. Forgot to mention that the vanity top will be Night Sky Ceaserstone (ie black). So he wants the dark grout. We will definitely be using mould inhibitor and ensuring everything is well sealed. It's all his fault if it looks horrible ;) Will post photos once fully complete. (I am now a little scared...)

Hi there. Yes I agree to go for a fresh white, make sure to compare a sample with your subway tile so that one white doesn't 'dirty' the other. A medium to light grey grout will also add some subtle detail to the look and is much more forgiving when it comes to cleaning.

Hi Haley,

I'd stick with white for the ceiling but perhaps opt for a light wall colour with a green undertone. Duluxs' 'Eaves' is a nice alternative to white for the walls and could work well with your floor tiles and vanity depending on the shade.

Like Lauren said above, look into artificial light to ensure you get the most out of the space.

Thank you. I haven't started yet so I only have photos from the website but these are the tiles and the vanity. I will be putting in some pendant lights and there will be a round mirror with LEDs too

Pretty choices and slightly retro, I think a white with a neutral base would be the best choice, it will balance out the warmth of the green and keep it fresh without looking too stark. If you are in NZ take a look at Resene Quarter Merino.
