Victorian Meets Modern Family Home - Before & After
Moss Melbourne
This beautiful Victorian family home was due for a refresh, particularly to fit within the lifestyle of this growing family. This family of 5 with three teenagers, all needed to be able to sit on a sofa, but the room restricted this as it was long and narrow.
We couldn’t just do a long sofa stretching across space, and needed to be clever about arranging the furniture so that it felt connected, didn’t block the passageway to the back door and still allowed everyone the ability to view the TV!
In our design, it was important to limit the impact of the overbearing fireplace by creating balance in the space. Also, the extended hearth limited our options so we had it cut back.
The sheer curtains soften the space, filtering the northern light. The custom rug we added sits boldly against the dramatic fireplace, and the chairs in their solid tones and classic forms, are strong against the rug's pattern.
