If it is for cooling I'd research which are most efficient and post a shortlist. If it's for looks perhaps tell us more about the rooms, because white is neutral and available in numerous styles and blade configurations so offers plenty of flexibility whereas wooden is beachy or MCM and black suits industrial or can suit other styles but can look too heavy if not balanced with other dark features in the room.

I have white ceiling fans and they blend better with the white ceilings. How old are your children? I have fans in my kids room, then I discovered them putting things on the blades and turning on the fan to see where the stuff would fly!

me me my kids are young adults, hopefully they won't be doing that. They were about to leave home when Covid hit, so we may have them for a few more years. They are away at the moment hence I am doing a quick makeover, getting the house painted and floorboards polished, new lights/fan and locks on their doors (early Christmas present) :)
