Floor plan just not working. I'm stuck for solutions.

I have bought a post-war brick veneer, which we plan to renovate by keeping the existing footprint and build an extension on the back. someone did a schematic which has missed the brief. I'm not sure how to respond. I don't want to write it off, but make changes so it works.

It is north facing (southern Australia) and we wanted to bring sun / light into the rear extension. There is a pavilion extension which we suggested, but our intent was for north/south facing for north facing windows to catch the sun/ bring in light. It is east/west - windows face south / none to north. Raked roof with clerestory windows facing north may work better. The current house has a basic skillion roof addition tacked onto its back - how to attach / ling extension?

Sitting room is too large - it is just a den / snug. Wanted wide opening from hall, to add sense of space from the front door / entrance hall. We need a study we can shut off - maybe incorporate study & den and have glass door/wall separation, to let in north light, with curtain to draw across if need to hide.

Was hoping to get br 2 and 3 and bathroom together - to give a sense of containment / separation from us. Do bed 1 and 2 need to be that big? They are guest rooms / maybe double as another space (keeping resale in mind).

Master bed - I think this size is OK. WIR and ensuite are too small. Want larger shower and space for two. Happy with WIR or built ins, but need more hanging / shelves.

I wanted mudroom / laundry / pantry entry from car. Driveway at 3m from wall to fence is too narrow for proposal. We have a rear lane access as well - garage at rear of block connected to laundry / pantry entrance as part of extension?

Designers have tried to keep a birch tree - which is nice but nothing special. Also trying to keep the driveway - which may be better utilised as north-facing window of extension?

If anyone can see solutions, I'd love to hear them. I am stuck - have a meeting with designers and I want to have suggestions not just complaints.
