Viberbum or Lilly pilly hedge?

Trying to work out whether to remove the existing couple of Lilly Pilly and then plant Viburnum Odoratissimum across back boundary, next to the pool. Would also remove the Birds of Paradise as they'll get out of control. I'd like the fastest growing of the 2. Thoughts anyone?

Comments (21)I would not be inclined to plant a Murraya for your hedge. I have a Murraya hedge and am forever clipping it. The branches also become a bit thick to trim. The Indian Hawthorne pictured is in my opinion a more suitable plant. It flowers most of the year and is easy to keep in shape or can be left to grow naturally. It comes in whit or different shades of pink. The pink variety is a slower grower therefore less clipping. Go and have a look at the nursery to see if you like the foliage and flowers. Comments (4)Lily Pily's are a good choice as theres a few varieties. Different heights, leaf sizes, etc.. Bamboo looks more Balinese I guess but the Lily Pily is just as good looking. The smaller ones will still need trimming though....See MoreLilly Pillys

Comments (3)Hi Rayan, Acmena smithii ‘fire screen’ from Warner’s is a dense Lilly pilly it’s quite dark and new foliage is copper, euonymus green rocket is quite dark, good old viburnum Tinus makes a fabulous hedge , looks great if tiered with buxus, I grow lots of viburnum species as hedges and they are one of the best looking hedge plants ever...See More
