Not unthinkable at all. There is a splash back product called metaline by laminex that is a splash back surface, with benefits that glass doesn't have. Firstly, the cost factor is reduced as it can be installed as per simple instruction with adhesive and silicon sealant and can be post cut meaning if you later decide you want to install power points or cut outs for taps, lights etc, you can cut through it on site after it's installed, with rouge Ed glass for example that cannot happen. Secondly, it is a large scale product without pattern, so joins are minimized although some metallic colours are in the palette so they can be reflective and moody if that's what your interested in. Metallics are right on trend, so one of their neutral tones would line the entire bath feature wall and look sophisticated and not fussy at all. That is a hard one with those tiles. I would have to think if you did a white, it would kind of work with the colour of your tiles. At the end of the day, they do need to be replaces, but as you said, due to budgeting reasons, you cannot, I can pass on this photo of a nice bathroom with those tiles for you though for inspiration... : )

We installed a feature wall of tiles in our bathroom of a similar pale blue-green colour to your examples. The closest dulux colour I came across was dewpoint. (Not quite close enough to be painted alongside the tile so we went with white for the non-tiled portion of wall so I can't show you a sample of it painted but might be worth looking at).

Hello, Painting the tiles will only result in it scratching off and looking worse than when you begun. To upgrade the look of your space with minimal effort and cost I suggest the following: - Change the shower curtain to something more stylish - Change the light fixture to something more modern - Add blinds - white wood or light wood to tie in the white and hide the brown windows - Change the fixtures - towel rail, toilet roll holder, taps. You don't have to spend a fortune to bring the bathroom out of the past - You could DIY a box to hide the top of the toilet, creating the built-in look. New buttons on this plus creating space to decorate. You could do this in wood, paint it or any other material that is economic and suits your style. - Maybe paint the rest of the walls an antique white, the yellow tone in the existing walls is out of date and not very 'fresh' - New door handles - an easy way to accessorise a room Hope this helps!
