Help needed for exterior update : render and/or paint, what color?
Comments (16)The grey on the western wall looks dark and purplish on my monitor. It may come over as too imposing and monolithic on the southern face. If you're sticking with the grey palette then a warmer tone would suit the sandstone better. Does Dulux have a colour palette recommendation that includes your Berkshire White plus a grey? Check online or in store pamphlets. But, for such a big, expensive, and impactful paint job I would actually be tempted to get a colour consultant. You're not just repainting a loungeroom wall if it doesn't work!...See MoreRender help
Comments (12)Hi Michelle, We finished our renos 18 months ago and still love everything about our colour scheme. Similar roof colour and teamed it with Duck White as it dosent throw to yellows or pinks. We had to comply to 6 star energy ratings as we added on so chose aluminum coloured double glazed windows in the hopper style as all our wind comes to the front of the house. I find the dark roof seems to hug the whole house and makes it very welcoming we have teamed with matching fences and given it a pop with wood and native grasses and magnolias. Good luck....See MoreHelp! Should I render or paint my 1970s facade?
Comments (48)If you want to make the house hotter, then painting the roof charcoal will certainly achieve that. Repointing the brickwork is the most sensible from a maintenance perspective. Once you render and paint, then you have to keep painting (and it's likely to be out of fashion sooner or later). Try to keep passive cooling in mind (i.e. light colours & permeable landscaping) with any of your renovations, and I think it always pays to try and embrace and compliment the original architecture and be unique, rather than trying to look like the latest project home. In my opinion the arch window is actually quite cool, and the excellent mock-ups provided by Geo Toria are along the right track....See MoreMatching 1930s internal rendered walls
Comments (1)Have a look at the Dulux textured paints. It’s like a thin paint on render. If you repainted both sections you’d achieve a more uniform finish....See MoreKaty Smith
