Wall art for lounge room, help pls
Comments (8)I would suggest hanging a large moroccan woven fabric or mat, just use a length of dowel along the top edge, and hang it up. It would add great texture and also a casual feel to the room. Dress up the couch with a bunch of patterned cushions and a bolster moroccan style. A silky fabric sun filter curtain would finish off the look. https://nz.pinterest.com/pin/299911656409300053/ https://nz.pinterest.com/pin/405675878916401870/ https://nz.pinterest.com/pin/431219733049382426/...See MoreWhat colour should I paint my exterior?
Comments (118)Thanks Anne and I will look at pale grey given the maintenance considerations. I have already paid for a colour consultant who was great but the Reckless grey she suggested for the house render and basalt gutters/fascia and front wall were too grey when we had the render samples put on and while it had a modern look, it was not giving the beach/coastal feel. I will head back into our inspirations paint store this morning to see if I can find the warm grey colours that have the most similar colour make up to Dune, and go from there. Anne you don't happen to know the dulux colour most close in composition to Colorbond Dune so I know where to start? Thanks again and I would love to hear from anyone who has got a dune roof and hear if they tried light coloured gutters and what render colours they have used on their walls....See MoreNeed help redesigning internal layout
Comments (12)You are amazing! This is exactly what I was hoping for with my post - some really creative people to play it forward and throw ideas at me that I could take to an architect. Or even better, find one on here that I liked, based on the ideas they were putting forward! Yes, for your curiosity sake, the house is in a hot climate (Brisbane). My hubby would say sweltering climate (but he grew up in a place where the hottest day in summer was 18 degrees C) - so he is already suffering and we are only in Spring. The house is on a sloping block. the front of the house is 4 steps up from street level. And rear falls away by 5 mtrs at the fence. The back half of the house has already been excavated to 2.6 mtr underneath. The plan will be to create a 6 bed, 3 bath, 2 living spaces, double garage house (but we can't afford to do that right now) so need to work the upstairs initially but keeping in mind the downstairs so as not to waste money. The garage currently slops with the block. So you can get to under the house internally. But not upstairs. It's roofline sits at the window hight. In about 5 years, we will renovate underneath to create a further 2 bed and main bathroom and living space. It will need a main bathroom downstairs as we are likely to put in a pool. The roofline is Apex with a double gable. really pretty and spans the whole house from east to west (minus the garage). The only other thought I was mucking around with was putting the main where you put the lounge and putting the lounge / kitchen on the north east corner. This allows for the main to have french doors onto the deck and the lounge to have big bifolds onto the deck. The deck would then span the entire back of the house (doesn't include garage). What do you think?...See MoreInternal and deck or extension help!
Comments (5)Hi AIC, Hasn't your extension and deck been designed by a Brisbane architect based at Ashgrove. I have seen the picture above before and have admired it. I won't mention the name of the architect, but I was pondering whether to ask them to give advice on an extension + deck that I am considering. Are you happy with what has been done so far? Would you engage them again? What aspect is the back of your house ? Did you end up finding any info about neighbours building extensions that overlook your backyard? My new neighours have built a massive house that should have been built on a bigger block. The house has only just been completed. They don't have a deck on the top storey, but it is all glass doors. They got many relaxations - built on fence line, house closer to front of block than all other houses, etc, for the initial build. I can only imagine that they were advised by the certifier that they wouldn't get approval for a massive deck overlooking my yard (as the house extends back 11m further into their yard than mine (on the east side of my place). That is, if it was part of the original house approval. I am not sure how the house was certified with the sliding doors 3.5 metres of the ground going to nowhere - to a massive void....See MoreKate
