Looks good so far. I’d use a basic square 100mmx100mm low gloss tile. Pick one of the benchtop flecks and use that for the colour.

You need to be careful if you are going to go for white tiles with a white kitchen - I have seen places where the cabinets are a warm white and the tiles end up being a way brighter white and it makes the cabinets look dull or dirty, way safer to go with a neutral colour. A warm grey would look stunning in your kitchen. White on white is very hard to get right.

What about a textured grey gloss subway tile. It’s what I would choose. A bit of oomph but not overdone.

thanks everyone, definitley great ideas. I really do think i need some sort of colour but not so over powering, i love the look, but my partner and i are both not colourful people. i was thinking the soft grey tones. would these work.

What a gorgeous kitchen, I would go with a lighter tile, you could try stacked for interest, herringbone, tumbled glass is gorgeous, keeping it light gives you a chance to add a colour in accessories, easier to change than a coloured splash back,

Matte finish looks better than the Gloss finish.

I would pick anything but not white tiles

Since you have the grey walls, a grey splashback tile would go nicely and, if I know that benchtop, it has a grey speck in it. Very neutral which means easy to select accessories. Best wishes, it will be amazing.

And, rather than herringbone or fancy tiles, I would go subway tiles in a stacked pattern. Clean looking and modern. I have them, at my tilers suggestion, and they look great in my creamy kitchen.

I too would recommend a coloured or decorative patterned tile for your splashback. At least use grey and not white, to give some interest, otherwise your new kitchen will risk looking too pale, bland and boring. With plain walls and cabinetry, the splashback is the perfect way to add some personality.

If you are going with subway tiles, hand cut will give a much better look.

you could add very soft grey grout to the had cut tiles - would look lovely ...... but probably already finished !! What did you decide?
