Did I make a mistake? Couloir help please!
Comments (15)Ok are we talking architectural designer or interior designer? Architects are more about lines and form and they grumble about the interior designers but that's who they hire to do the color boards. Either way you are the client and it's your house. It may be a great color scheme for the design but if you don't like it change it. Those sample of paint are worth every penny because you need to see more than a little chip. With your asymmetrical design you have room to vary more than the usual field or base color and a contrasting trim. I'd make a tracing of the design and copy a bunch of pages of it to use as a coloring book. (yes use crayolas:-) Another shade from the same shale grey paint chip and a one more accent color would be a good bet. If you are going subtle neutral, make it 3( not 50) shades of grey and play with where you put the darks and lights. Remember sunlight and shadows will create alot of contrast for even a "pale monochrome houses. (the computer rendering doesn't give you that.) You could add a pop a smoky teal, plum or coral if you want color as bold as you design. These would just be accents or trim. If shale grey it a really light silver you could make a monochromatic scheme with blue grays and a navy blue door and trim. The tan/beige in the rendering needs a darker grey to work. I would keep my midtone color on the lower level and a lighter shade on the second level. The top part that pop out could be a bolder accent color withe rest of the upper level almost white. Lot depends on your roof and window frames and whether you want them to blend in or pop out. Try a bunch out on paper or one of the computer programs before choosing any changes....See MoreWhat colour should we paint our house?
Comments (20)Hi Erin Both look like they will work. I think your challenge will be to bring some depth to the front of the house . With the colour being uniform its quite flat, so I would suggest adding some awnings to the front windows. These could also be a nice feature on the front of the house adding your personality. http://www.icietla.com.au in Brisbane sell some beautiful stripes. The other option was to have a base and top scheme that helped the building look a little lighter. A great transformation which ever way you go....See MoreIn what order should we do things?
Comments (10)I would also go the the majority and paint first. Low VOC paints are also the way to go and as mentioned new carpet also emit toxins etc. so don't leave things to the last minute and keep things well ventilated for a few weeks after completion. If the robes are sliding doors they don't usually have backs so you need to paint the walls before robe installation, believe me as a pro i have painted many the inside of robes, you will have a neater job and save time. Some wardrobe companies insist on the installation prior to carpet so you have a better fit to the floor, so check it out prior to timing the carpet. So paint first, asked your robe company if they have a preference and if not, carpet then robe. Hope baby arrives safe and healthy ready to enjoy the new environment you are making. Good luck and all the best. Regards Paul Wales...See MoreKitchen Splash - have we undone our good work?
Comments (30)Hi kyliewarren, I see lots of super helpful comments but please remember you chose the tiles because you liked them. This is your kitchen and other's opinons are just that, opinions. If people's comments have not turned you off the tiles, paint the wall a strong colour to match with the tiles, a dark grey or black to match the lamp shades. I can imagine you're feeling very stressed with lots of opposing comments. The tiler needs to correct the mistake with the mislaid tiles (the ones going in the opposite direction) but I would suggest painting the wall first before deciding you no longer like them due to everyone's strong comments. We offer aPick-my-Brain design advice service if you want more insight about what you might do to make the tiles work. Good luck!...See Moresouthaussie
