Help please to Improve Street Appeal to this small house!
Comments (13)Great suggestions already. I like the idea of the french doors leading to the lounge and opening onto a covered patio. Block up the existing door unless there’s a good reason for keeping it. I’m sure you can find something interesting to do with the space gained inside the house. Keep everything light and bright paintwise but you could let your head go colour-wise , soft lemon or green with white trims, or different shades of your favourite colour. Some plants in the ground, some in pots: a lemon tree, rosemary, succulents, etc. Good luck....See MoreTerrace - Street appeal
Comments (7)Definitely paint. Depending on what the approved colours are through council, I'd pick a scheme that will allow you to have your window frames one colour, the walls one colour the rounded window mouldings to be another colour (Possibly the same colour as the the window frames) then the door to be another colour in a different finish. You might want to try a scheme on the grey scale - make it light enough so it's modern, fresh, neutral and should be allowed through the heritage council. I would then change the style/colour/size of the number of the house and like suggested above, some potted plants on either side of the front door - make them heavy enough so they can't get pinched. Good Luck....See MoreColour advice for Trims and facias
Comments (2)I like the idea of painting window frames to match shutters and painting roof fascia dark grey. Did you resolve your street appeal dilemma? I'm curious about your progress....See MoreHELP - Need help improving street appeal!!!
Comments (12)IMO the picket fence is at odds with the plain and fairly timeless house. Nothing wrong with corner windows per se, however if your climate would benefit from it you could enquire about replacing them with a more modern and energy efficient style. I don't see the need to spend on painting the bricks or roof tiles with possible maintenance issues down the track, unless you genuinely dislike the existing colours and have a clear vision for what you want instead. Sure they're sold as modernising tricks but the results vary and if not well done the house can look like nothing more than 'an old house, modernised'....See Morestevenm_aus
