Comments (1)Hi Filippa, If your keen to go for a soft yellow, I'd actually advise steering towards a warm light cream colour as it'll give you more scope with colours and you can dress the colour up or down depending upon your accessories. I would remove that corner unit and strip everything out of the room that you can (amazing what not seeing something in a room can do for visual style vs trying to visualize something not being there). Take the measurements of the furniture and work out if you've got enough space for a bigger bed and if you do go for a bigger bed, avoid anything with a frame that comes up at the foot of the bed as it'll close your room in and make it seem tighter than it is. I'd have the ALL of the furniture painted warm white and if you keep your current bed, remove the footboard at the bottom of the bed (as it visually impacts on your room - and if you're anything like me - gives you somewhere other than the wardrobe to hang clothes). Change the handles on your furniture to be in the same style - personally, I'd change them to crystal knobs so that you bring in a feminine bit of bling. If it's possible, I'd remove the shelf at the back of your computer table, hang the monitor on the wall and look into corner floating shelves in that corner - this way the computer table can double as a bedside table for your alarm clock. On the wall above your bed, I'd look into either getting a print or doing your own abstract artwork that ties in soft whites, soft yellows and other pastles and have that in a white frame. Go for bed linen/bedspread/doona cover in white and then bring in your creams and pale yellows with soft cushions on your bed (you could even add texture in the form of sequins, synthetic furs, broderie anglaise and satin if you like - and if you can sew you can do it yourself very cheaply)....See MoreHow important is thread count when buying bed linen?

Comments (66)you are super-patient!!! :) :) thank you :) I'm so sorry but I do actually have a couple MORE thoughts!! argh! there are just so many different options.... and this is a bit of an all consuming puzzle to try to solve. here they are: 1) study could become main bathroom - leaving new Bed 4 as per plan since it is bigger & a better size for guests. in this option, some area could be stolen from the study to boost ensuite size - even if it just made the ensuite 1 full metre. Ideally not requiring study window to change. 2) WC could potentially be separate either within this space OR at the back of the old kitchen (allowing for the remaining, longish hall wall to be shorter again) oklouise you may think some of these ideas are not very workable & I'd be so glad for your feedback & comment (and anyone else's comments as well), it's really so incredibly helpful - unbelievably helpful - to have everyone's input. i'd love recommendations on which ideas & options might work best for that balance between function & budget...See Moredreamer
