Comments (35)yet another option to consider for the master suite is to enlarge both wiw and open the bedroom door in the opposite direction so when the door is open you don't see the bed or into her wiw....only 50cms subtracted from the bedroom makes both wiw much more spacious but i still prefer the toilet door opening into the bathroom for direct access to the handbasins with another cavity sliding door to close the bathroom off from the bedroom and isolate the smell, sounds and steam away from the bedroom and i have to say that the shelves at the end of the pantry could be reduced in depth to allow more space for the mudroom to avoid the traffic jamb ...120mm (built into the wall cavity) is plenty of depth for storing cans, packets and bottles...See MoreHelp! Comments (56)Ive had a really busy 4 days & have been totally warn out, sorry for the lack of communication. We are changing the plan to have the roofline open up at the back like the latest pic posted by dreamer, but to also open up at the front for a patio entrance. Doing things this way gives us the high/raked ceilings in the kitchen/living/dining rather than stepping the whole area down. As for the design of the ensuite, kids bathroom, laundry, pantry, spare toilet & mudroom..... We've had a chat about it & have made a few changes. We have spoken with the 'architect' & he is drawing it up with the changes that we are happy with😊 Thank you all so much for you opinions & help, its been very much appreciated & has helped us get to a point that we are very happy with the design now, couldnt have done it without you guys💚💙 When the shed gets built we will have a granny flat setup in one end of it for the older kids or visitors so that will work out for us now too....See MoreAdvice on Floor Plan for New House
Comments (20)my suggestions are to make more use of the northern aspect (with better placed rooms and windows) and, instead of six bedrooms used randomly, i would rearrange bedrooms to have your office (study bed 6) away from all family activities, move the laundry to open to the wider south garden, add sliding doors to the sitting room to open up the width of the hallway, lose the big WIL in favour of more storage spread throughout the house, add more cabinets to the kitchen dining area to create dining room storage and a study nook ..the guest room doesn't need a wiw although biw, chair and a bench for luggage is useful...upstairs the minor bedrooms are equal sized with more storage and bed 2 can be used for an alternate office, guest room, hobby or mums quiet room and one bigger family bathroom with separate toilet can be comfortably shared by small kids to adults and i've sacrificed the extra ens and hall for much more generous master suite ..the house still has 6 bedrooms, 3 living areas, 3 bathrooms and a powder room and, instead of having odd sized small bedrooms and the extra ens for for questionable long term profit i would make sure that every room has an immediate use for your own family and put any savings into better quality finishes and cabinetry but i have to ask what is the object outside the SE corner of the family room?...See MoreHouse Plan Design-- Need some feedback on a plan
Comments (21)Hey Juda. Good on you for getting opinions, both good and bad ;) My first impression of the plan is that it's a bit busy/rabbit warren like! Even though there are apsects I do like, I've mainly made notes about things I don't like, so hopefully they're useful. STUDY: Whilst the internal three-window hall section might look cool, it removes the opportunity to run a desk or cabinetry along that wall. GARAGE: Wouldn't you also need an outside exit door (eg. top right corner of store area)? KITCHEN: This is a tough one for me. The concept of a Scullery, where dirty dishes are hidden, washed & dried seems neat, but will said dishes need to be carted back out to the Kitchen cabinets all the time, or are some stored in there, and if so, will it be annoying to visit the Scullery all the time just to get some plates, etc.? Anyway I think the Scullery double sink needs to be centred more to allow space for the flow of incoming to outgoing dishes. The alternative sink position is the left side Bench where the dishwasher person also gets to enjoy an outside view as opposed to the inside Scullery wall. LAUNDRY: I think its position should be swapped with Bedroom 3, and have another internal access door to the Laundry placed where the Bedroom 3 Desk presently is. This allows for much easier access from the Kitchen area through to the laundry, then outside to a clothes line, etc. as opposed to using the only sliding door to this wing of the house. MASTER BEDROOM: Would it be desirable to have an outdoor shower/tropical fernery where the vacant top-right corner space is, that's accessible from the Ensuite? MASTER BEDROOM WIR: I think the central space is unneccesarily wide or perhaps the shelves/hangers should be wider. BEDROOMS 3, 4 & 5: These don't have a clear wall/position for a TV (if needed?) opposite the bed. All the best. Colin...See Moresiriuskey
