Incorporating a verticle supporting beam into a benchtop

I have a small but significant design issue with my new kitchen, involving a necessary vertical supporting beam at the end of my benchtop. The supporting column sits at the end edge of the benchtop and cuts into the breakfast bar. See pic. The question is, how do i finish the benchtop end panel? A waterfall in engineered stone (which I don't particularly want) will have a join mark along the top edge if it needs to cover the vertical support and a panel (of any type) wont be able to sit under the benchtop as it normally would because the column is in the way and creates a gap in benchtop at the outsward side of the vertical support. The kitchen finishes are in Polytec Bespoke Legato (gray) with sharknose drawers and cabinets. The end of the (problem) benchtop is directly opposite the dining table so in full view. Questions and suggestions for making this look good gratefully received!
