Complete Home Renovation - Before & After

We recently completed this amazing full house renovation project in Hunters Hill NSW.

The brief was to bring this dated home into the current age. This home was a 1920’s Federation Cottage, with an early 1980’s extension at the back.

EXTERIOR

We couldn’t knock down the whole house because of the Cottage at the front being heritage listed, but we were able to knock down the extension at the back of the house to create a more seamless open-plan living area.

The owners bought this property because they loved the outlook, location and they knew it had great potential to renovate and extend for their growing family. They wanted to respect the architectural elements of the home and enhance its great features such as the high ornate ceilings.

We sandblasted the render off the bricks on the cottage and brought back the beautiful original dark red bricks and had them tuckpointed to give that new modern look from the front. We knocked out a few walls inside the cottage to create larger spaces for this era.

KITCHEN, DINING & LIVING AREA

This dated Kitchen, Dining, and Living area was enclosed with small rooms and needed a makeover to enhance its appeal and to open up the space to create open plan living with lots of storage.

The builders and I worked together with the client to create a space that my clients love… white which was a perfect jumping-off point for a modern, light, and airy aesthetic with a bit of boldness of personality.

To add warmth into the home we used Nikpol Halifax Oak on the kitchen cupboards and Black Traceless Material that is fingerprint-resistant, which is excellent if you have kids! Super White Dolomite in conjunction with Snow Caesarstone was used along the 5-metre island bench to create a point of difference and interest. Light grey concrete look tiling on the floor was used which helps to ground the space.

The result is a large streamlined and modern kitchen sympathetic to the home's original features and style. It enables the homeowners to live within the space effortlessly, provides ample cooking and preparation space, conceals as much as possible, and eliminates the need for any artificial light sources during the day. The new space is a testament to a brilliant design and renovation!

BACKYARD

With the backyard, we excavated a lot of earth to create two beautiful platforms. One being a patch of grass and outdoor exposed pergola area to flow seamlessly from the inside out.

The next level down, we added a swimming pool and gorgeous landscaped plants for the kids to enjoy.
