I prefer the white. The grey makes it all kind of blend together but the white makes the grey entrance really pop! hope this input helps :)

But can I suggest that , dependingh on budget , a couple of things that I would change , that would add even more pride in your place , and also more resale .

The wooden entry and wooden garage door are great features -- add some warmth ! Why not continue and reference that by adding the same cedar stained timber to at least the 'corner' charcoal coloured piece on the upstairs window -- both sides of the window may be too much ?

And if possible ( I assume it is reasonably set plan , but doesn't hurt to ask/suggest ) I'd do that larger left 1 1/2 storied 'feature' ( is it presently concrete block , or grey tiled ? ) in a red antiqued brick -- it , combined with the redder toned timber accents , will really add to the look IMO .

But we felt $5000 for a few wooden spots is too expensive for our liking hence we decided to take it out and just paint the area.

The 1 1/2 feature wall will be rendered and then followed by adding tiling to it.

Everyone is different -- I would have paid the $5k .

Do you have a choice in tiles ? I don't think the grey in the illustration does anything ( in fact , being biased , I don't think grey has ever added to anything ! ) -- something like a rusty orange ( almost a terracota with brownish streaks ) , an antiquey red , in fact a streaky emerald green would all be different and get attention without upsetting too many people . Grey is way too safe there IMO , to the point of devaluing the look .

I personally much prefer the timber cladding too. Maybe I could check with the builder if we can just do the top cladding. Given it's a smaller space, might be more affordable.

Ya in terms of the color tone, we've been playing safe. The palette is similar to this display home you see below. The grey tiles is the one shown.
