Early 90s beige kitchen and ugly floor tiles
Comments (8)Hi, I believe the ideas you have initially are often not those you would do further down the track. Everything looks pretty good so allow time for you to consider your ideas- this also extends the enjoyment of a new place and gives you a good reason to shop! -Your kitchen - new handles and an updated tap- would make huge difference. If you are going to do up the kitchen I would wait .Try some bright accessories - kettle etc of a favourite accent colour that I would carry through in some artwork, cushions, rugs etc in the rest of the living areas. It is a bit hard to advise without seeing your furniture as to colour and shape and your preferred style. Have a good browse on HOUZZ for some ideas. While you have the floor tiles you will be a bit restricted on what tone to use to freshen up the walls but i think you need to get some swatches to match your tiles. If the paint work is good you could just leave it and go with a feature wall of a richer colour if there is a suitable wall. This way you would have a wider range of colours to tone with new flooring when you can afford it and wouldn't waste time painting then re doing it again soon after. I would go with either timber or laminate or timber look vinyl planking. With such a big space It is important to create zones by careful placement of your furniture. Large areas of tiles can be clinical so think of applying some texture with rugs, cushions, throws and art on the walls and once you have figured out your preferred style there may be some spaces to apply wall paper. Comments (8)Hi Karen, I'm not a fan of colourbond cladding...you could put some modern fibro weatherboards on instead. Also those downstairs posts look like they have been joined? You could definitely clad the underside of the verandah roof, would improve the look. Although I have left mine unclad for the foreseeable future. If you do clad, you might need to double check with a builder if those rafters are ok to hold the cladding as well. If not, treated pine noggins can be installed. The railing balustrade should match the deck as well....See MoreUgly duckling desperately in need of a makeover
Comments (7)I agree with MB Design. The less done the better for now, I reckon. It will cost quite a bit to landscape this space and if nothing is to be added that gives shade, not sure if it is worth spending a lot of money for now. Some psitostroms (or however you spell those Neighbour-be-gones) along the fenceline - or even instead of a fenceline - is as good as an idea as anything for now. A cluster of multisized succucents amidst a little rock garden of sorts in the centre will at least stop anyone parking on the lawn....See MoreIs our new modular an ugly monstrosity?
Comments (6)<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><md>Comfort is rule 1 of any couch so if you like the comfort that's all that matter. Also note that spaces filled with furniture can often make the room look bigger so oversized is fine. You just need to get a good balance. Once you get a rug, coffee table and maybe lamp or other accessories or indoor plants the sofa won't appear so large. Just remember to think about scale and proportion as these are important when pairing furniture. Compare a coffee table with open base on legs to a solid block for looks. The block type might disguise the scale of the couch. Some colour or warmer tones will also bring the space to life. Stick with your choice and dress the rest of it.... and forget what others think. If they're rude enough to comment so unkindly then make them sit on the floor...See Moredreamer
