Help with bathroom renovation planning

Hi All,

I've been thinking of doing a bathroom renovation but the quotes I've been given are just too high for me. So I've started thinking of ways to save some $$$. I figured I could do some tasks myself, and call for a specialist for tasks that require a license, like waterproofing, plumbing, electrical.

My bathroom is quite old, and what I want to do is replace everything: bathtub, toilet, cabinets, vanity, tiles, but leave all plumbing and electrical wiring in the same place.

Since I have no prior experience I need help with planning and specifically with the sequence of works. As I understand it should be something like:

  1. Cap plumbing and electrical
  2. Remove fittings, cabinets, tiles (walls, floor), bathtub, toilet, etc.
  3. Replaster the shower wall (I assume after removing wall tiles the plaster will be damaged)
  4. Waterproofing walls and floor
  5. Install new bathtub
  6. Retile walls and floor
  7. Install new toilet
  8. Install cabinets, vanity, fittings, etc.

I'm especially interested in the order for bathtub/waterproofing/tiling.

Thanks.
