Colour Scheme Help

Hi all, just wondering if there are any design "experts" out there who could design a dulux/colourbond scheme for the exterior of our new build? We are after a hamptons look with grey, white, blue undertones for the exterior of the attached image/s. TIA - Shane

So lexicon on walls, which is your blue undertones white, white trim, and a darker accent.

Thanks for all the feedback! I was leaning towards keeping the original roof colour, to be honest it was my partner who wanted to consider other colours. So these comments have mainly assured me the original is ok! A brown would have been my 2nd choice. The challenge will be hiding the new mis matched tiles. I hadn't thought having the roof painted would require extra maintenance in future as it is already painted concrete tiles. My last house was the same and pressure washing it removed alot of original paint, leaving it patchy. So ended up getting that one repainted. That house was 10 yrs older though. I feel like painting the driveway would require more maintenance, but I would love to get it done properly to tone down all that orange! And yes one day soon a new garage door would be good too! I've thought about bringing brown/timber into the exterior but am scared there will be too many different colours going on if i dont do it right! So the decision on painting the roof (the same/ similar colour) after tiles are replaced is on hold for now as we are looking at adding an extension with 2nd storey at the back. If that happens we will want the new roof to match the existing. (I think!) Thanks for the ideas, much to think about!

It originally comes in the white i remebr when we purchased it, there was a white one like an antique white but I’m not ur normal person and always go for the darks lol, only cause my dining chairs are black cafe style too with wooden table. But I definitely um looking into it. Scared though cause once we touch it we can’t go back lol. I wouldn’t know where to start. I would definitely go for the Matt look. I don’t know I want the streaks on wood underneath aswell comeing through parts of the white too lol. I’ll upload a pic of the white table at the store for you to get an idea

I'm looking at the picture , and I'm trying to work everything out . What stage are you at ? Which walls will be red brick ? Are any colourbond , or is that just the roof ? Just in that picture , I can't imagine the red brick suited anywhere there . The left of the garage door , and that splitter wall , would look okay in the brick , but I'm gathering it would be both cheaper and also better suited to do both of those in a fibrocement board , maybe rendered and painted ? The door is just plain boring -- Maybe , just maybe , that wall to the left in the brick would be okay , but it would be difficult to tie it in . Do the flashest door you can afford , but personally I'd like a wider doorway , with glass down 1 side or similar . Likewise , I'd do a matching garage door . The other thing though is around the window -- I'd do that in a shiplap board -- personally I prefer real painted timber rather than anything fake -- there's places you can save costs , but even a whole house is less than 420k different in price -- that bit around the window shouldn't be $1000 different ! Maybe that gets a discussion going . . . . . . .

Theres no such thing as good advice ! It's all bad . Some would say the colours are safe and neutral . Others say they look boring . My advice to me would be a wooden door , maybe a cedar or similar , maybe with an interesting wooden surround and some interesting holes with glass and some interesting glass down the sides . And I'd tell me to do the garage door in wood to match . But that mightn't be good advice for you , because you mightn't like wood , or the red of the cedar may be too much like colour , or maybe not enough colour , as you may be waiting for someone to tell you to paint the door and garage in your favourite colour , which may or may not be shocking pink , or bright red , or citrus orange , or grey . So you will get advice here , but it won't be good .

Shake grey roof and gutters. Milton Moon or Miller Mood walls. Vivid white or white on white trim.

I don't want to be the one that points this out , but I'm not able to see anything that looks 'Hamptons' . Hamptons isn't a colour combo -- it is the details ! 3 dimensional designs on and in gables ; balistrades in traditional styles ; railings in traditional styles ; wooden terraces ; big frames around windows ; multiple roof peaks ; scrolls ; smaller window panes .

Theres nothing fundamentally wrong with your house , nothing wrong with your suggested colours , but it doesn't seem Hamptons , whereas for maybe $20k it could look closer to that style .

If it was me , I'd do the veranda at the far end as a timber roof the same angle as the roof , rather than that sloping 'cut' , keep the larger windows , have the terrace and stairs in nicely stained timber , while at street end , I'd go timber door and timber garage door , probably slate around the pole at the entrance , and your lighter colours would still work with the timber , even the bluer tinged walls but keep the windows in crisp white for contrast .

Thanks Pottsy for the constructive feedback - really appreciate it!

I understand where you are coming from and I should have prefaced the colour scheme as opposed to the actual design being hamptons - you are quite right to point it out. With regards to the extra money being spent 20k for that we are constrained to the covenant design and the slope of the block in the area our house will be built.

I will see what we can do with the design elements you have provided.
