Alenka, thanks for sharing those photos. How wonderful. When I moved up to the Macedon Ranges I swore I didn’t want exposed brick or wood paneling. I’d only lived in Victorian, federation or cal bungalow houses in Melbourne, though I appreciate mid century modern design. Then I fell in love with and bought the house in the photo (but hate the light fitting). Even though our family circumstances changed and we had to sell I still love the authenticity of the materials, the attention to detail and the connection all of the rooms have with the outdoors, including main bathroom and toilet. Really bad orientation though so it was cold and dark and very hard to heat in winter. Cool in summer however. Our new build will draw on some of the best aspects of this house, and will include internal recycled brick walls in some rooms for thermal mass and interest, indoor outdoor flow and courtyards, raked ceilings etc, but 8 star energy rating and oriented to take advantage of northern light. I love your house.

Price check everything before deciding. Many people take too much advice from salespeople who want to sell you just what they have. A solid timber flooring isn't really that much more than a timber floating floor. I've found the cost difference is having the solid floor sanded and polished, oiled, etc. only. There is some quite expensive floating floor options and some really cheap ones. Buyer beware!

Personally , I wouldn't try to sell the couch and buy something else -- the existing tenants have white , but why either spend money , or get something inferior ? Even adding white cushions ( maybe 2 standard size , 2 oversized , one shaggy ) would help . Problem there though -- who wants a white rug , cause thats what you'd need IMO if you went down that route . The kitchen is pleasant , but imagine it with lime appliances ( not the fridge haha ) , or orange or candy apple red . . . . . . . . .

I'm starting to shop around for breakfast bar stools as the island is going to be my dinner table for a while. It's hard trying to find a bat stool that will suit colour/looks wise. What are your thoughts on this bar stool, do you think the colour will match my kitchen?
