Help with alfresco ideas
Comments (28)@Lynne: thank you for your thoughts and comments. This house was built with some feng shui in mind, thus these roof lines - and roof orientation. We are aware that those columns are in the way. At a first glance, the one in front of that two panel door is not load bearing, this could be removed (seriously-who on earth places a pillar in front of a sliding door?!?!?!). The other one on must remain while both on the balcony are required; although we're planning on redesigning the balcony, thus can remove/ change the location on those columns/pillars can be reinforced and then moved. We're using a 3D software (sketch up or Revit) to play with potential designs to get a feel for the look (as we don't want to waste the time of a drafts person) before commissioning someone. Although I believe we will require a designer/ assistance of where items such as the BBQ could be build (kitchen faces the SE side of the house) to ensure a good flow inside out of the house... Thanks again! Much appreciated ;-)...See Moreexternal alfresco
Comments (3)What is on the boundary? Suggest a mesh trellis so you keep your width and plant with an evergreen such as banksia alba, a thornless evergreen rose with white flowers or Chinese Star Jasmine. This is how we handled a 2.9m width below. Paved it. Worked a treat as it faced North....See MoreCan I use existing al-fresco site as kitchen/dining extension?
Comments (7)The structure to the viewer's left is the alfresco area with the main house attatched to the right. Hopefully this gives you a sense of the space internally. The french doors to the viewer's right lead onto the alfresco area. Ideally, I would like to convert the existing front living into a bedroom, with an enterance hallway leading to the open concept living (current kitchen/dining in photo) with large new kitchen/dining in alfresco. It would require removing the current wall with french doors etc....so engineering of this will be needed. And finally, this is the view into the space from the back yard. The timber structure to the viewer's right, is the existing main living/retreat area. Hopefully, this helps!...See MoreBackyard Alfresco Transformation - Before/After
Comments (0)Our clients recently moved into the home and the garden had not been looked after by the previous owners and was looking rather old, tired, and overgrown. They wanted to create a good flow between the house and garden. This idea was enhanced by adding in a new deck that raised the floor height and created an ease of access from inside to out. We excavated a lot of the old plants and weeds and created a more modern and low maintenance garden, which still provides a groomed look to the overall space. The old fence was leaning due to sub subsidence around the retaining, we also resolved that issue and installed a new fence which provided better privacy and stoped their dog from seeing people walking past on the public walkway, which stopped the dog barking.
