TV wall or cabinet
Comments (6)Hi Ali, It's a lovely room, I'm glad you showed more of it!! Judging by your comments, it seems the issue is where the powerpoints are and not where you want the TV to be am I right??? The TV would be better where your liquor table is, still up on the wall though however, I don't know if you can successfully turn your lounge to do that, as you would then have the lounge in the middle of the room and you would be looking at the back of the lounge when in the dining area but you could put a small console table behind the lounge, even the liquor stand , effectively creating the start and finish to each space. Anyway, for now, if it's a power point issue then simply leave the TV where you've put it and save up to get more suitable points put in. Hope this helps. Cheers, Barbara...See MoreTv wall dilemma
Comments (14)I only mentioned the wood thing as I think your flooring is a fantastic statement piece in itself so would either maintain the tones up the wall or maximise it with simple white lines and lighting but I am a minimalist at heart! Not a professional designer and am simply just providing an opinion. Honestly the choice is yours as far as blending light and dark, just consider the tones with each as sometimes they clash - but if that's the look your going for than all good!! :-) Maybe just start by moving the TV to the wall - you'll see a huge difference in just that. Make sure you get the height right for the best viewing otherwise you'll kill your neck! It may be enough for you to reduce that 'bare' feeling your getting before doing anything else....See MoreTV placement with water views
Comments (20)Hi there Mel, with all the males in your house you can't hide the TV, we had a similar problem with positioning lounges and didn't want to replace our furniture. Our living, dining kitchen etc all have water views via big windows and sliding doors which really gives you great views while reducing wall space. We placed our sectional with enough space to walk behind it (we have full length timber venetians) in front of the 1st lounge window facing into the room. TV is on the end brick wall, we then have a couple of separate chairs opposite that can be moved if needed. I would agree that the best position for your sectional lounge could be with the back of the lounge towards the kitchen with the other section running along the wall. Keeping in mind the Males in your family (1) mount the TV in the same space on the small flat wall so that it can pivot, just thinking that the pool is right there, the boys could then have access to watching TV from the pool. (2) Put a low bench with storage in front of the window opposite the pool with the TV on this (they could still have access to watch from the pool.) not sure what window treatment you have in mind, you mentioned louvers which are great for air flow. Possible other is white internal shutters. A sofa table behind the lounge would add useful interest to the rear of the sofa. I agree with Domu & House Matters ideas. A couple of photos of our place I will try to find one of furniture placement if You like, cheers,...See MoreDesign dilemma - TV Unit in Living Area
Comments (4)I like the idea of a timber floating cabinet no wider than the TV, which could be purpose built and installed given the wall is brick. Unless you are handy and can do this yourself? I would match the timber to your floor, if possible. I say cabinet instead of shelves because you are wanting to hide the wiring, etc, and a cabinet will do that where a shelf will not. The raised platform you have for the fireplace is really attractive and a floating cabinet will not detract from it, I think....See Morehechan
