Stuck for ideas in weird layout bathroom
Comments (18)Thanks so much to everyone, I really appreciate your help. It is finally done. It looks great and we had a few little hiccups. It took about 4 weeks longer than they said; Vanity Caesarstone top was nothing like the sample so that was replaced; Stegbar sliding shower screen glass door didn't have holes drilled so that was delayed a week and mix up in communication added another 2 days; when carpenter removed tiles etc as prep, a lot of junk went down the drain so it overflowed (lesson there for him to cover drains). The tiler I insisted on using did a great job but hard to get the communication going between the facilitator, the water proofer and the tiler. I got the lights from Temple and Webster (12 volt), I just need to get a different lamp to match the others (2 are bright white and 1 is warm). I am very happy with the finished product - see attached panorama shot (I just need to put up the white wooden blinds). Thanks again....See MoreBathroom layout help - awkward space at bathroom
Comments (5)Yes thank you for your thoughts. the room is 2.8 (with window) vs 3.4m. I do find it a bit annoying too as I don't like that you open the door and see straight away into the shower (though I'm certain the door would have a lock). I'm sure they lined the bath up to be with the window as visually that looks better, but then I find the space at the end annoying. I like the alternative drawings (I like three of them lots!) and I had been considering an drop in bath built wall to wall rather than a freestanding but also finding it frustrating to find a really nice supportive bath and there are less drop in baths than freestanding around at the moment which is a bit annoying. Thanks Anna for the picture, that helps as that looks good (though we would have more space at either end, 50cm) and I prefer the look of yours with some space but not as cavenous... I think I might have to have a talk with my husband as we really need to work out what to do!!...See MoreHow would you design this space for a bathroom?
Comments (10)Thanks all for taking the time to offer your suggestions which are great. @siriuskey how tall would you envisage the nib walls to be? The ceiling is 2700 high. In both your suggestions I would need to alter or close in the window as it is a large window that sits above the bath. Do you think this would be a costly exercise? The house is brick veneer. Also love the idea of a sky light! @Kate @siriuskey I didn't realise you could have a door to angle like you have drawn. This seems like a great idea :-) @oklouise Thanks for your suggestion and def worth investigating. The house is steel framed so not sure if possible to recess the sink in the toilet room, but will check it out. This is the current layout for your info. The door only just clears the shower screen....See MoreBathroom reno layout ideas
Comments (21)For a house that age, do an asbestos assessment before you do anything else. It is important for health and safety, and for knowing what additional costs you might be up for. It really needs to be the first thing you do. I've seen pictures of bathrooms where the two windows srtill work well functionally and visually, so work out the best layout first and then decide which window or both of them suit that layout. Keep in mind too that windows reduce wallspace and you need to allow enough walls not just for the major items but the little things too like towel rails. I've seen beautiful luxe bathrooms in display homes, and then I look around and realise we'll have to share one very small towel....See MoreK s
