Personally I would avoid trying to make the room too dark. If your going black on the ceiling & grey on the carpet I would stick to mid to light grey walls & probably continue that onto the bulkhead so it flows up nicely into the star ceiling. Again with the roller blinds I would try & match it to the wall colour. This way it lets the star ceiling, comfy couch & the big screen be the heroes of the room which is why we create a dedicated theatre room in the first place!!! I'm completely jealous of your star ceiling plans... That exact same theatre room design is my dream! What are your other plans for the room? Dry Bar? Dvd storage?

Dianna, I haven't read the other comments yet, but the first thing I would do is add a large rug in dark colour/s on your shiny tiles and a dark runner on your glass coffee table. The glossy tiles and your glass table are light reflective and those are things you want to temper in a theatre room. As far as what to hang on the walls, definitely some art. My first choice would be movie posters, framed in matte black and with non-reflective glass. That's what I have in mine. IF you don't plan to have another theatre room in your next abode, then some nice prints that you like. I would still frame them in matte black. Might be just me, but I don't think cushions really belong in a theatre room, u less they are large floor cushions, of course. A throw or two is always welcome, esp this time of year. Best wishes!

To be blunt -- the room isn't really big enough ! So you have to sort out priorities , and space . You have a dining table , and a computer desk . Can you get rid of the computer desk , by having your computer tower mounted behind the couch or similar , and a wireless keyboard and mouse that you can use on the dining table ? Mount the monitor on a wall , or if you don't need in depth graphics , I understand you can use your TV ( I've heard something about the 'refresh rate' is less on a TV ? ) . Maybe even have a monitor but also the option of using your TV ? Could you use a 'breakfast bar' , probably where the computer desk is now , I know its not sociable all staring at a wall , but it would/could serve as a brakfast bar and computer workstation . Could you get rid of the dining table and chairs , and have a large coffee table , or 2 smaller ones , and eat 'casually' ( my polite way of saying eat sitting on the couch ) ? Even mounting the TV on the wall will let you get rid of the cabinet , but I gather you have gaming consoles in there ? And the present arrangement with the pot plants uses some space -- maybe some shelves with them on will still retain the plants but free up floor space ? Just some thoughts off the top of my head .

adding furniture always gives a much better idea of available space and bed 4 is much too small for a living area although bed 3 without a wall and wardrobe could be used for a small TV room to open up the long hallway but i've moved bed 2 to make a MPR, added generous ceiling height biw in every bedroom (to include general storage as well as personal items) and simplified the bathrooms and the wide vanities can be used for linen..assuming that there will be a restriction of total floor area to block size i've kept this variation of your plan to 60% of the total area and think highlight windows on the south and tall wide windows above 750 off the floor on the north will allow plenty of northern light and still allow easy furniture placement, the MPR could have a western window to make the room more comfortable in cold weather and external blinds to exclude hot afternoon sun and shade blinds on the outside of the verandah would screen the sliding door but i would omit the external laundry door and the "pantry wall" as shown in Dreamers photo of my own pantry can be included inside wall cavities and needs only about 15cms depth for very useful storage
