I agree that the existing pendants are very generic, inoffensive and safe. If the budget doesn't stretch to replacing five pendants then get an electrician to shorten the cables so that they are above your head height. You may also like to explore some other bulbs. It looks like the bulbs over the dining table may be a warm white, whereas the kitchen is a cool white. Once you have found the perfect bulb for colour and brightness/intensity then match all five pendants with the same bulb. That’s a lot of lights already. It’s hard to tell. Is 1,2 and 3 in an L shape, with 2 roughly in the corner of your benchtop? A picture showing a bit more of the bench from both angles would be helpful. And it would also be helpful to see what type of pendants you had in mind.
