Hi All, I am trying to find a better layout option for my bathroom. This is what our designer has given us but I don't like it. I don't like that the toilet is squashed in between a bath and shower and then I think where would you put the toilet roll holder?? The space is 2 meters wide and 3.2m long. I really want a bath, shower, single sink vanity and toilet in the same room. What's everyone's thoughts on improving the layout. The plumbing, electrical, door and window are not in fixed locations, they can be moved around, but the window and door will need to stay on the same wall.

with careful choice of fixtures something like this should work but you need to allow enough walking space between fixtures and, although toilets are narrower than 800mm, this is the space needed for reasonable elbow and shoulder room, there's several vanity options and it's possible to have a custom counter made to extend a narrow counter over the top of the toilet for more counter and also consider a wider in wall cabinet and/or wall shelves for more storage

That is fantastic. Thank you so much for your reply. This is what I had in mind but wasn't sure if I could pull off the depth. There is a vanity that I like that is 430mm deep and if I do a recess in the wall above that goes right across the toilet I would get the extra storage.

also for safety having a back door is essential in case of fire etc. Make sure the door is an exterior grade one to keep "night visitors" out. I've seen laundries housed in cabinets...the firsts suggestion sounds nice but i haven't seen your floor plan layout. is that double laundry sink your bathroom vanity as well? maybe get the washer hardware happening inside (and preferably an under bench model for more bench space and an integrated look), and choose a farmhouse design sink. choose all white and grey tones. best of luck.

Yes thank you for your thoughts. the room is 2.8 (with window) vs 3.4m. I do find it a bit annoying too as I don't like that you open the door and see straight away into the shower (though I'm certain the door would have a lock). I'm sure they lined the bath up to be with the window as visually that looks better, but then I find the space at the end annoying. I like the alternative drawings (I like three of them lots!) and I had been considering an drop in bath built wall to wall rather than a freestanding but also finding it frustrating to find a really nice supportive bath and there are less drop in baths than freestanding around at the moment which is a bit annoying. Thanks Anna for the picture, that helps as that looks good (though we would have more space at either end, 50cm) and I prefer the look of yours with some space but not as cavenous... I think I might have to have a talk with my husband as we really need to work out what to do!!

IMO, Adding a full-length mirror next to the bathroom door is an excellent idea and not strange at all. In fact, it's a practical addition that can make the bathroom feel more spacious while also providing a convenient spot for checking outfits or doing hair and makeup. I agree with @dreamer's suggestion that a walk-in wet room is a great option for combining a bathtub and shower in one area. If space is limited, a shower over the bath can also be a functional solution. As the bathroom will be used by three teenage girls, it may be a good idea to consider a bigger vanity with a double basin to make it more convenient and accessible for them. This can help reduce delays in the morning rush to get ready for the day.

based on assumed dimensions my first suggestion would be to rearrange the new stairs (and that will possibly impact the original stairs which you say are already uncomfortable so might also be worth altering) there's more spacious kids' bedrooms with generous biws, desks and separate powder and shower rooms with storage space (towels, vacuum etc or you might like to include an upstairs washer and dryer and a kitchenette in the sitting room for late night snacks or early morning coffee) but i've reduced the size of the master bedroom in favour of an alternate ensuite and more generous wiw and dressing area with access to the retreat without having to go through teh master bedrooms and with more accurate dimensions and correct location of the angled wall it may also be possible to enlarge the retreat and rear balcony by pushing the kids bedrooms to the east and i've left off the extra front balcony in favour of a bigger dual access front balcony but always depends on accurate dimensions and budget

I also like that the toilet is hidden and the toilet roll holder has a practical place to be fixed to.

- always depends on precise dimensions and don't forget that the thickness of wall tiles can use up space but if you have a vanity that is only 430 deep that's a great start, ..the toilet and shower spaces are standard so biggest decision will be the bath , best of luck with your choices
