Outdoor BBQ Kitchen quote and recommendations

Got this outdoor BBQ Kitchen quote from a builder.
$14k is way over our budget for this but interested to hear from you guys?
1) Is this $14k price reasonable for the items they are providing?
2) We can spend max $5-6k on outdoor BBQ so looking at this budget what minimum items do you suggest getting? We can either ask same builder or do it after hand over. Please share your thoughts.

the quote hasn't mentioned and costs for labour, extra plumbing and electrical connections and never had a quote that included anything not specified so assume that could all be extra so i would check prices for all items specified and consider alternatives and please share a view of the plans for the outdoor kitchen but always keep in mind that a good free standing barbq can be bought for under $1000 while saving to add the dream outdoor kitchen although i would always include basic plumbing and power in the initial construction

A friend of mine installed prefab along her balcony but they ran the length of the house wall, so we're pretty much protected from weather. She had screens installed at either end. Where you see the BBQ and cabinets in your photo, she just had a free standing BBQ. Her cabinets even housed her washing machine, bar fridge and dish drawer. Looked fabulous in white with her timber floor.

Alex, your courtyard area is probably too tight to achieve what you want plus a workable grass area, which will be a hassle to maintain for a small benefit. The first step would be to consult an arbourist about the health condition, longevity and potential to trim any branches below 2m of the existing two trees. No point in landscaping around two old trees if they are in poor health. At the same time confirm with your arbourist how close to your tree trunks that you can pave. In keeping with the period of the home I would probably use second hand bricks from the same period of the home, laid on a sand base to pave most of the area to provide good access between the entry gate and front door, as well as the dining and BBQ area. Don't pave near your tree trunks or under low hanging branches that will be kept. Keep a planting bed at least 600mm wide adjacent to the boundary fence and between the brick paving and house to soften the look. Select plants for your planting beds based on needs, probably low level shrubs between the house and paving, and vertical growing evergreens along the boundary fencing where you may need privacy. Shade loving ground cover under your trees, and mulch everything. Keep it understated and simple, and make the retained tree(s) and your house the feature with garden lighting. In a courtyard this size you don't need to introduce a feature. Best of luck, Dr Retro of Dr Retro House Calls

while i can't comment on appliances with 6m of available space you should be able to spread out a little and make more serving space as well as making the size of cabinetry more streamlined...dividing the space into 4 x 1500 zones allows for 2 x 2 x 750 cabinets and fridge space or seating something like this with space beside the barbq for serving and stacking dirty dishes and i'm wondering if a dishwasher would live inside one of the cabinet spaces to make clean up even easier? btw your image is gorgeous and my poor 3d computer images can't compete..enjoy your new home

Have you Googled outdoor kitchens? You can get complete units for less than 1/2 the quote. And as oklouise suggests make sure you have the plumbing, gas and electrics organised.

Is the evaboard the benchtop? Cost depends on size and cost of appliances. Is labour for install included plumbing etc

Agree with Kate, get other quotes.
If you take away the expensive Artusi brand appliances from the quote, what are you left with....maybe a $500 cabinet.
And as oklouise has noted. Does this quote include the installation of electrical and gas, and plumbing points?

So with above examples, I would do your bbq after handover, just confirm with the builder that all gas, electricity and plumbing points will be installed.

Cant really comment on this without the plans, but it sounds about right as your looking for something custom as well as it being built most likely to be complimentary to your existing kitchen, inside area plus your builder is sourcing the joiner, fittings and trades.
