I have done lots of pondering and lots of wandering. Wearing out shoe leather looking at tiles, hopping in baths, sitting on toilets. I think I have found my tiles. It's funny to think I started off wanting carrara (or a version/copy thereof), then went to black and white, and now these. The colour really does vary depending on the angle and light. These photos were taken with my ipad, so not true to colour. They are an ash tone and throw grey, off white or a bone colour depending on lighting and the angle. I think they say "classic and elegant like a little black dress, a string of pearls and diamond studs." I hope they don't actually say, "i've turned into my mother and I'm playing it safe." I figure I can go wild with towels. Question is should I lay them horizontally or vertically? The feature tile will go up the side of my wall on top of the bath and be directly opposite as you walk in the door. I wonder if i should use the floor tile or the festure tile on the side of the bath? I am thinking a black tap on the vanity (not necessarily this tap), but chrome elsewhere? The U.K. Has a version of the showerhead with a black rim, if I could be guaranteed it would fit and work the same here I would be tempted to buy it. Black or chrome accessories (towel rails, soap holder etc)? All suggestions, viewpoints etc welcome.

Hi jgjustingordon63! Good luck with your reno - it can be exciting and scarey doing a reno! Have you considered doing subways a bit differently such as the pic below (I found via Pinterest)? This way, it doesn't matter really the size. Check with your builder/tiler re the fall if you want large-ish tiles for the floor. If it's a small bathroom, this might be an issue. In the pic above they've gone with small tiles which also looks really lovely. One other point I would make from experience...We used charcoal floor tiles AND grout. Bleach can discolour the grout, so you just need to be aware of that. There are ways around it and you can re-grout down the track (at an expense) but just giving you the heads up here! Good luck!! Hi fivedock No problems. I have tweaked it a little in response to the other rooms. The kitchen lights are moved out slightly off the cabinetry for better overhead lighting and added two under cabinet /bulkhead lights that are wall switched. Have also added a light for just outside the laundry for when you are standing there with washing. Back room can be on one circuit although I have shown two as don't know where you are placing furniture. We make the bathroom lights separate as shown and also do the fan separate. Our sparkie hates it but we like to be able to use the room without the fan automatically coming on. Have shown pendants in the master but that's up to you. I can delete if you like. On a side note, are the bedroom doors swinging that way deliberately? We would normally swing them opposite to that shown so that they open against a wall and you have clearance to walk around the beds. If this is to be changed then your switch locations need to be changed also. Cheers

Hi Sofia I definitely think brick lay would work better on the walls in the bathroom purely because you have a 30x30 on the floor and a 30x60 on the wall. You will find the tiles could look out of place trying to stack them. It would be a different matter if they did not share 1 or more dimension. You could hang your mirror so it covered about 1/4 of the "floor tile" and 3/4 of the white above the centre of the sink. Alternatively, tiling the entire back wall with the "floor tiles". The first option may make the bathroom feel smaller if the shower takes up more than 1/3 of the back wall. Doing the two different options would give the bathrooms continuity, but also some individuality. I hope this helps. Look forward to perhaps seeing the outcome. James
