Comments (23)The girls agree with you. They like the path shot, and I think we can have the pair of this pic blown up and framed. They also wanted a bit of family, so I found three similar shoulder on head shots, of the girls with their father, grandmother and then an old pic of their father as a child with his mother. The poses are similar, and I think I would frame them and put them along the top....See Moreneed advice in decorating new living room
Comments (12)Hi Fabulous Pink, Your pendants shown here are quite formal, so with that in mind, I would actually go for the more formal 'first' floor lamp pictured. The blue and grey cushions you previously posted are also more informal in colour and image, (especially the 'coral' shapes) so do not immediately tie together with the pendant selected here. That doesn't mean you can't introduce some blue into the room. Just consider the 'theme': is it formal, casual, classic, modern, eclectic, etc....and stick to that. It can be a bit formulaic, but if you haven't any experience, it is a more fool-proof way and you will most definitely develop ideas as you go, as Susan suggested, but you don't want to make costly mistakes or end up getting totally lost or bamboozled. Re the scatter cushions above, I like the texture of the first two but you will also need to add a solid colour (maybe this is where the blue comes in - perhaps in velvet, so it adds a softness as well as texture) and a throw rug in similar tones....See MoreNeed help decorating the strangest-shaped living room ever
Comments (17)I think the problem is actually not so much the shape of the room but the fact that at the "pitch of the roof" part you have a large full length window and fireplace. Essentially, because of all this there is no wall to put your back against or place furniture against. My rectangular room has similar issues with a corner window facing the fireplace. We just put the kids toys there on the floor and low kid size stuff like a toy box. You can't put any large pieces there. So, I say, start by completely ignore the top triangle of the room. Its essentially dead or unusable space, but will add to the feelings of space and light in the room. Arrange your large furniture pieces in the bottom square portion, around a large square rug perhaps that would define the space. It might feel better that way. Then arrange your other bits around that. I think if you try to work the square it will be way easier to organise the room. Emphasising a square layout will feel more comfortable. Plants in that light bright corner was a good suggestion, they soften the angles. Hope that helps!...See MoreBar Room Converted to Dinning Area with Hidden Storage Features
