Street appeal: Ugly duckling into beautiful swan??
Comments (29)HU, I've replied to old posts, sometimes the related questions that appear can be confusing and the date can be overlooked, it happens, I think many of us have done it, so don't worry about it. Thing is, if the original poster is no longer following and if other people looking for inspo are more likely to get advice by starting a question of their own than getting lost in an old discussion and if people willing to reply waste time reading through before noticing the question is 7 years old, and it brings it back to the first page making it more likely more people will mistake it for a recent discussion, I'm not sure how productive any of that is, so I appreciate the 'old post' advisory, and in that spirit since I've now added to the conversation I'll draw to others' attention that this is an OLD POST...See MoreStreet appeal
Comments (1)Landscape and fresh paint. Landscaping will make any house (no matter how new, old, large, small, etc.) look special. Even a plain but well cared for garden will look great. A fresh paint with the maintenance jobs done to the house is economical and all that many need. Comments (10)From the look of the under whelming front Stairs the house looks about 450mm (3 steps) or so off the the ground. So could make more of a presence redo the front door entry / stairs quite cheaply with a timber deck that starts at the front door wraps around the each side if the house a bit, then flows down onto the entry path and terraces down the sides. Along with the other suggestion of painting the front door a brighter colour would create character lift the entry nicely. Does the front of the house face north or If your budget allowed a narrow deck say 1.2m (with pergola) along the entire front would transform the place entirely....See MoreChoosing exterior guttering and window colours
Comments (10)Thanks girlguides and me me. I had thought to follow what is there now, lighter fence, but I like the idea of woodland grey fence. I didn't get a dune sample, but I had thought that was a good match. I got surfmist, which I loved, but was too scared to go that light. Surfmist looks look very light/white, so that on windows perhaps, woodland grey fence, surfmist eaves (or white) and dune gutters. Hmmm, that's great food for thought. I shall get a dune sample and mock up a visual of it. Yep, drought-tolerant landscaping would be nice, but I must admit, I am not a fan of alot of natives. I do like hebes, and they grow on their own (which is handy!), so maybe some more of them around would be handy....See Morejenny2345
