Bathrooms are difficult. I can relate to all you are going through! Your are very lucky to have the window. and putting the toilet behind a solid wall will most likely take away your light source. Sure you have thought about the alternatives: - Similarly to an idea - Lampert Dias Architects Inc. put forward . . . What about a frosted glass wall shielding the toilet from the view as you open the door? Completely frosted or glass with a band (e.g. 42") of sandblast through the lower area, even with a clear area the bottom few inches - to get max light. Or a semi solid wall, solid on the bottom half and frosted glass on the top area or wooden vertical slates or plantation shutters on the top half. (though this may look too heavy keep it simple, keep it light - this is what I like about the pic you posted) Unless you are able to make the wall quite long you may still risk the chance of still being able to see the toilet when you open the door - the ultimate test is what you see when you open the door. Putting your shower where the toilet is now is a good idea, then you can create a wall of glass, even frosted glass, you retain the light and shower in a beautiful space (like the pic you posted) - But is there an alternative place for the toilet? Hopefully you can place the toilet behind the door or similarly out of the way. Lampert Dias Architects Inc. idea of the french doors opening onto the garden from your shower is fantastic - we are hoping to do this in another bathroom which will contain a bath. But your situation may not allow this. Also, and this may not apply in your case, some people may argue the negative of your ideas . . e.g. some will say having the shower where you now prepose (in front of the window) risks see a naked body when you open the bathroom door but that's got to be preferable to an intrusion on ones privacy. (Sure Houzz has done a piece on this exact subject) - hey that's their opinion, all you can do is work out the best alternative for you and your situation and stick to it. Hmmm . . . We have been think about the layout of the interior, as you original discussion is all about water falling on window frames, but what of the view from the outside of the window? Is the window just a small one usually found next to or behind a toilet? If privacy is an issue Lampert Dias Architects Inc. sandblasted idea is a good one or a textured glass. Think it through, take your time even though you are keen to get it done. Patience may save you some money and get you what you want and need. G'luck with your project!

@ jeannie...that's Oipe, my dancing Queen...despite her size she's very nimble and does a little dance for her bowl of dinner. She's a Norwegian Forest cat. In the winter she grows another coat on top of her shorter curly woolly one...not FUR but a long straight coat of waterproof wool! Here sh'e in between seasons so no "Puss in Boots" UGG BOOTS and no gaucho pants! Can you imagine that!? After one litter she decided she wasn't doing that anymore...and I was sort of glad too....with all that wool around her nether regions! She gets shaved mid Spring, looks very funny but its more comfortable for her. Her favourite red mate 'Yodle' is smaller. Oipe is classed as 'red' ( ginger) even though her coat colour is much closer to a pale apricot. Have a friend who collects all Oipe's wool from her periodical groomings and her annual shear, spins it, crochets baby clothes and sells them...much in demand, better than Alpaca and as rare as....cat wool! I think Oipe weighs a bit more than 22lbs. Everyone is taken by her and she's such a " lol-about and couldn't give a darn" that she allows all the attention and loves it. My lifestyle is every bit as fantastic as it is just plain hard Aussie 'yakka'. I planned that this house would be where I lived and died. All sounds so romantic and close to Nature...and it is...but one can get really muscle sore, and brain weary working oneself into this lifestyle. Thankfully I am quite a strong Aussie country woman now..but getting here from being a thin city lizzy with not much strength, let alone country naus, was an ordeal I thought I would not survive. I've needed every bit of brain and braun I could accrue... and all on my own. I've met some wonderful country folk who have taught me bush skills I never knew existed. Did you know, for example, that we should never kill ants? Black ants are the natural enemies of the white ants or termites. You need to know where your black ants live and keep them fed so they'll stay outside and hunt the termites. If you find termites just surround them with a handfull of sugar and bring a clump of dirt and black ants to where they are...you won't need to spray...ever! Once they know they'll alert all their relatives near and far and anything wooden in your dream home will be safe. Glad you all like my story..THANKS...it makes all the hardship all that much more worth it! Oipe reaps the full benefit of my, at times, sore, tired body. When I'm flaked out on the lounge from hauling in the heavy ironbark firewood for the night...she just ambles up and plonks her voluminous self right in my lap and up my chest and decides I need grooming and exfoliating with her raspy tongue. Then I get a massage! She purrs and vibrates like an idling diesel engine...its kinda relaxing! P.S. Never thought anyone would catch me wearing Jeans! The only place I wear a skirt is to church..and sometimes I'm too tired to be botheredironing it...so have a pair of Sunday jeans ...there's no such thing as a day of rest...but time for the gentler jobs...like cooking enough to last the week! All the girls get together for that...NICE. I think I'm one of the lucky people!

We have seen a similar issue in the past. The problem occurred when the porcelain tile on the floor did not have 100% contact with the tile adhesive, this caused water to seep down though the grout join and hold in pockets under the tile in the areas where there was no direct contact. The water being trapped in the pockets under the tile does not evaporate and can leave the tiles looking stained. If this is the case with your floor tiles the bottom row of carrara marble tiles are simply acting like a sponge drawing water up. To fix the problem we would suggest that the bottom row of carrara marble and the porcelain tiles on the shower floor need to be removed and relayed ensuring full adhesive coverage. Unfortunately this may compromise your under tile heating and waterproof membrane. Proceed with caution.

Gorgeous marble. Love it. I wouldn't do subway tiles, too busy and too much grout. I did large gloss white tiles with white grout and it's not hard to clean if you keep it clean as you go along. Which you will do because it's white and shiny and new! I love mine as it doesn't detract at all from my bench top. The marble could be amazeballs but I'd have the same concerns re too much pattern...Good luck and post a pic when you're done!
