A suggestion that the professionals use and makes it SO much easier choosing colours - and then the perfect shade of that colour. Get a paint swatch of the Hog's Bristle - or paint a little sample card from leftover paint. Bring home 5 or 6 samples shades of navy from the paintshop to get the the closest shade/tone of navy to your couch. Armed with those - and a sample of your bench colour - hit the shops with confidence! You will see easily which yellow, or which Marsala or which 'whatever-colour-you-choose' looks great. There are many shades that might look like they work in the store, but when you get them home will be NQR,,,,you know, not quite right....and you still may not be thrilled with your room. It's a simple and almost foolproof way of choosing colour and has worked for me throughout many renovations.Couldn't do it without those little bits of colour! Have fun...

OK, I have lots of ideas with that brief; Starting with the floor, I think a big cosy knitted/plaited style rug like this one would set the tone. From there I think a round coffee table (maybe in a dark timber not unlike your kitchen to keep the colour story working between the spaces) to help with the movement of people within the space and finally I would repeat a modular sofa to maintain the number of seats you require. I'd consider the sofa in a donkey brown (grey/brown). I would replace the side table with a round side table that is in a new material (metal or ceramic) but same sort of colours to layer up the textures. Cushions on the sofa should then be various textures but continuing the same colours. The entertainment unit I would then select something that is textural like this. I would have a big piece of timber artwork or installation over the sofa something like these . Have fun with the space. Sophie

Do you need to fit a table between the sofa and the kitchen bench? If not a sofa table against the exposed back of the sofa would be a good addition. I’d also add white s-fold sheers from wall to wall, ceiling to floor in front of the blinds. Plus a 4x3m rug. Have a look at Lost Design Society. You need a proper TV bench that mirrors the width (as much as you can) of the sofa. You don’t have room for a coffee table. But between the sofa table and your existing two small tables that would give you a place to sit down a drink. You also need 2-3 art pieces behind the sofa that again match its width.
