Hi Jojo, We chose Rylock windows. We paid dearly for it and anticipated a good product. We had 24 windows installed. Our issues ranged from a frame of a double hung window falling onto my head, to scissor winders bending, to flyscreens not fitting on the windows (2), and locks on sliding doors not working). We moved in 7 weeks ago and they have been out several times. To cut a long story short. Stay away. Spend your money with someone else because their after sales service is shocking! You will get sometimes answers to emails, calls are answered with "other people are waiting on updates too. I get back when I can and I won't be able to give a date when that may be". We were looking at Valley Windows, they essentially offer the same style of window. I would steer well clear of Stegbar too. We looked at their displays and most windows were broken. Good luck!

"Why do renovations take so much longer than promised?" It's actually unrealistic to "promise" a timeframe on a renovation, simply due to the nature of them. Any timeframe contracted practically is a guide only for these projects. The good/experienced builders will manage expectations well by building in a significant amount of contingency in their scheduling. If all goes well they'll bring the project in sooner. If it goes bad then there is capacity to still bring it in on time. There are so many unknowns and unlimited options of how to go about resolving issues that crop up in the course of a renovation. Anyone going into a renovation needs to understand they are a completely different type of project to say a volume build, which is a tried and tested product that can be delivered for a fixed priced in a relatively fixed timeframe. Renovation are customised in nature and hence involve a different dynamic and a different set of expectations. Sorry to hear bout your frustrating experience. my concern was the dog might scratch the flimsier bunnings options not the one for $1000 which is quite a bit sturdier. we own a dobermann (the popularity of which also went out in the 80's after magnum p.i. but not necessarily a negative) another trendier option would be a barn door that slides across but you need the wall space for it to sit when open, or a cavity sliding door. neither of these options were suitable due to not enough wall space, and double brick internal walls. concertina doors certainly are a suitable option for some spaces even if considered dated. they work and can be removed easily to restore the opening if need be. I'm happy to be living in the 80's, life was way simpler then and takes me back to my childhood which makes me smile.

We have recently used Abbey Aluminum to replace our ageing timber windows and doors. Can highly recommend them. Very professional and great products. They have different profiles, we opted for chunky commercial grade frame but they have others too.
