Help with narrow poolside space

Hi everyone,
Over the last 6 months I cleared out an out of control bush/weed from our poolside and got our new boundary fence build to start making it compliant. What we have found is we don't have an area to enjoy sitting poolside, and so when we finish swimming with our kids, we exit the space, back up to our deck which is a shame.
So I want to move the pool fence to create an 'L-shaped' level area where we can have a couple of loungers etc. This is really the only area that gets consistent sun. I'll mark that new area out in the photos.
What I would love advice on is once I create this space, should I build a low profile deck or go with some good quality artificial grass. We have a lot of decking and brick (you can see in the video), so some softer greenery is tempting, but I'd love to hear peoples opinions. I am also thinking of planting palms along the fence-line and some bamboo at the extremes for privacy.
(excuse the mess of bricks and tools in the pics, I'm mid-destruction!)
would be awesome thank you.
