A court yard and a bedroom are two very different things. What problem are your trying to solve? What additional functionality are you after?

I guess my question is what would add more value to the house long term and whether the entrance to the courtyard through the laundry is a fixable issue

How much do you want to spend? Access to outside through the laundry is problematic. The main thing you’re missing from a value prospective is an ensuite. Can you post pics on the front deck? Improving it may be better value than a courtyard. Your house faces the wrong way to make the best of the valuable northern light. But what are other properties in your area doing? What did the highest price sale in your suburb have that your house doesn’t?

Are you able to move your carport forward to the front boundary ? If not allowed then concrete the space and put a timber gazebo over it .Then extend the patio into the carport space and put a main bed on the deck off the kitchen with the ensuite close to the plumbing . Tidy up the back courtyard .

I’d put master at front of house so you can have some living opening to back yard. Much better for family

An ensuite and a 4th bedroom if possible, would add lots of value to your property.

If only you could lift the house up and flip it so bedrooms at the front and living at the rear and get rid of entrance past carport.
The lack of engagement with your rear is always going to be problematic with bedrooms placed where they are
